The Uni shift pipe lock Mechanical Pencil is a visual masterpiece both in design and function. The Pencil is targeted at heavy users such as students and designers. The upper body shifts forward to create a body transformation as it protects the guide Pipe and Lead from breakage. The Pencil also has a nice weight and features a low center of gravity to allow stable writing and reduce hand fatigue. The finely designed grip is etched with many grooves to offer a non-slip grip, and the guide Pipe tip allows great visibility. The Pencil is available in 0.3 to 0.9 mm sizes and is differentiated by color accents. The upper body is made of plastic while the grip and tip is made of metal. The 0.5 mm line has extra body Colors.

 For about the same price you get a pencil of better quality. This pencil looks really nice but they need to change the material of the black tube, otherwise I don't see myself buying another shift pipe pencil when this one is decommissioned. I don't expect this pencil to last too long. For about $10 just get a Alvin

 I'm talking about the black tube. The plastic they use just feels horribly fragile. This is a huge disappointed because the knurled grip is exceptionally comfortable. For this reason i give this pencil 3 stars

Interesting experiment, but not really ready for prime time.

The weight of the pencil is great and feels quality in your hand. The mechanism to retract the tip is definitely unique and keeps the tip from getting damaged from a drop. However, it's slightly annoying to click in place to lock the tip out as I keep forgetting which direction to turn to unlock and lock the tip out and I'm also wondering how long the locking mechanism will last. So far, it's been a pleasure to write with and if it does end up breaking, I'll most likely purchase another one to keep in my collection just to have
