Today we're checking out the FET Head Inline Pre-amp from Triton Audio. They're a company out of the Netherlands.

So I highly recommend the FETHEAD. It's a must-buy in my book. It's currently priced at around $96 or $99

Depending on what you’re doing, you might need a mic booster. I’ve got an Audient iD44 and find a mic booster with an SM7B helps for some sources. Look at the Klark Teknik CT-1 / CM-1, the Cathedral Pipes Durham MKII, and the Triton FetHead for excellent (and cheaper) alternatives to the CloudLifter.

I would consider an Audient Mk2 interface together with a Triton Audio FetHead ( To me the best match to the SM7B compared to Cloudlifter or Soyuz launcher. This probably has to do with the impedance of these interconnected amplifiers. The output impedance of the SM7B is 150 Ohm so for best performance the next amp in line should have an input impedance of at least 1500 Ohm.

I use mine into a RodeCaster with a Triton Audio FetHead. I get a tiny little bit more "beef" in my signal, and notice a bit more by way of proximity effect. From what I've discerned over time is that a fet booster gives you proximity effect (that rich tone) when you're up on a mic, and allows your mic to provide a more useable signal when further off (6"-10") but not using one isn't a prohibition.
