 The extra small and small frames are going to run a 27 and a half inch wheel and then sizes medium through double extra large are going to run a 29 inch wheel. So that means the wheel size is going to change based on the height of the rider, so they can keep the geometry as beneficial as they can and have the largest wheel size that'll fit the frame. But with that, they make some really neat features like this. Being a size large, it runs the standard reach brake lever, but on the sizes small and extra small, they actually do a short reach lever and then past that, they're going to change things like the fork travel on the size small and larger is a hundred and millimeter 100 millimeters up front and the extra small is 80

 This is using the Suntour Xct 30. this Xct30 uses a 30 millimeter stanchion on these chrome plated stanchions and then you're going to have an adjustable damper here to be able to lock it out or open it up. On the other side of the fork, there is an adjustable preload, although in my experience this isn't going to do too much to adjust the suspension. However, it is nice to have that feature added

 The size is small and extra small. It'll have the M276 short reach lever and those are running a hydraulic disc brake two piston caliper on 160 millimeter rotors [Music] Connecting the bike to the ground is going to be the Bontrager connection Rims: These are an aluminum double walled alloy rim. The rims themselves are going to be 20 millimeter wide and the internal width. They're running 32 spokes to these six bolt disc hubs in the front and the rear

 So keep in mind this may be a little bit different based on when you get the bike because things like tires are going to be a place that Trek is going to put the most comparable part on there to get it shipped. Rode a 2019 Trek Marlin 6 for a year. Averaged around 13mph on flat roads over 30 miles consistently.

 Trek ups the game considerably with the Shimano Deore, M5120 derailleur clutch and all, and this is a good clutch. behind the fancy black derailleur hanger and sandwiched into the 135 millimeter rear spacing is the 10-speed cassette. Now, I didn't count the teeth while I was sitting in front of the bike because I figured I could go to the Trek website and look up this spec. But it turns out for 2022, they don't list anything for the cassette, so 10 speed

 So here's a rare look at a 2022 Marlin 6 in person, which looks really good in my opinion with its Kev Central friendly orange color they call this factory orange. It's also available in three other colors. I think this factory orange though probably the best because a Kev Central sticker would look great on it and track always makes beautiful frames. Excellent finishes and I've said this before, quality and for the Marlin 6, the material silver, alpha aluminum

 this frame available in multiple sizes extra small to double extra large this particular one extra large which means 21.5 inch, that beautiful paint finish and the quality construction. The Marlin 6 also has some extra touches like internal cable routing and a rubberized chainstay protector. and it wouldn't be a marlin without the marlin on a Marlin graphic

Don’t buy a Trek Marlin of any number if you are looking to get into trail riding. TLDR: you can’t upgrade a Marlin.

Hi! New to mountain biking and reddit. I'm looking for a budget friendly starter mountain bike to put on my Christmas list. I'm a little overwhelmed with my search currently, since there are so many different bikes to choose from online! I've looked a little into these bikes (list below), but can't narrow it down. Looking for bikes under $1000 that I can ride without having to do major upgrades on after a few rides.

\-Schwinn Axum DP

\-Giant Talon 4

I am open to any and all suggestions you can give me. I currently have a $200 mongoose status 2.2. Love the bike but it definitely can't handle any rough terrain.

Best Budget Hardtails for Beginners?

In terms of your specific grievances with the Marlin, most bikes in the price range of a Marlin 6 will still have coil front suspension and the rear hub is something you're unlikely to upgrade on an entry level hardtail. You will get a much better bike if you go up to the $1500-2000 range with a good air fork and all around much better and more durable components for trail riding.

I am brand new to mountain biking (starting at the worst time, apparently) and am currently shopping for my first bike. All of the local bike shops are completely out of inventory or are on pretty far out backorders. (SE Michigan)

I placed a deposit on a Trek Marlin 6 that will be arriving at the shop I ordered it from in early July, while most of their stock isn't arriving until 2022. The more I read and continue my research, the more doubts I'm having about picking that particular bike. Main concerns:

1.  Overpaying for beginner quality components, especially the front shock being coil spring, because of the Trek name.

2. The rear hub is not really a standard size at 141, so upgrading will be difficult.

3. Concerned about long-term or even short-term durability. Will a couple hundred $ upgrade give me a much more reliable bike.

I want to do a mixture of trail, single track, and possibly a small amount of downhill. Budget around $1,500 if possible, max $2,000, could possibly stretch that a little further if needed. I'm okay with either Hardtail or FS.
 
Open to any and all suggestions, and I know that actually finding a bike in stock may be one of the biggest issues right now.

Beginner Bike Doubts and Recommendations

I’m pretty new to MTB and I got my marlin 6 a little over a month ago. I’ve put pedals and a short stem on it and am loving it but I think it’s time to upgrade to an air fork.

Marlin 6 is an entry level XC hardtail with a 100mm coil fork and low-end 2x8 drivetrain. Stoic 3 has a 140mm air fork and better 1x12 drivetrain plus better brakes as well. If it's within your budget, absolutely go for the Stoic. Specced significantly better and more capable for trail riding

So...is there any point in buying a trek marlin 8 for €1,050.00 or, a canyon stoic 3 for €1,200.00
Both bikes brand new not much in the difference just wondering if it will be worth the little bit extra
