Best Travel Backpacks of 2022 - GearLab
Lastly, the high price tag can be a difficult pill to swallow, but considering the quality of the materials, this bag is built to last.

Personal item-ish sized, clamshell bags for a small frame
For example, my one bag is a 21 L Tortuga Outbreaker Daypack. It’s super light and boxy, so it fits 2-3 small Amazon Basics packing cubes and my toiletry kit easily in the main compartment. So easy to pull out the cube/pouch I need. I do like this bag for its slim profile.

3 -?? Days personal - Atlas Athlete + Tortuga Outbreaker Daypack. The daypack fits in the camera bag with packing cubes in IT, then fits the rest of everything else I need to travel indefinitely with Camera Gear. Has a stretch outside pocket for jacket and huge water bottle pockets, and a comfortable and supportive harness.

Best packable bag for day use while backpacking?
The Tortuga Outbreaker Daypack isnt as light as some of the other options but a good city daypack as it doesn't look as touristy. The Vagabond Packable is fastastic for day hikes. The Osprey Talon/Seral are comfortable as well as the MR Hip Monkey.

Daybag to use as a onebag for the city
Love my Tortuga Daypack! It’s my onebag.
I’ve only used it for a couple of overnight trips, but it is super comfy on my back and meets my minimalist aesthetic.
The stretchy side pockets came in handy for holding my slippers.

Would GR1 21L be overkill as daypack/camera bag for traveling?
If it's used as a personal under seat item with a duffel or roller or something it's a great day pack. It's comfortable for hours, indestructible, you could likely find a molle pouch for the inside at the top to put the camera in, and throw a couple water bottle holders on the sides. If you're looking at a packable the 15L bullet they're re-releasing on Christmas is a better bag, the vagabond packable is a good option but looks like a hiking bag, or the Tortuga Outbreaker Daypack is a casual looking city/light hiking bag.

Whats the smallest bag you have packed for a week of travel
Tortuga Outbreaker Daypack (21L) for a long weekend in Vegas. I've traveled lighter for trips closer to home, but this is the lightest I've ever traveled by plane.

Looking for a lightweight backpack I can use as an EDC in Tokyo!
I use the Tortuga Outbreaker Daypack as my onebag and love it!. I especially love the stretchy side pockets and the comfy straps. It holds its shape well, stands upright and the crinkly sound doesn’t bother me. Getting Xpac fabric on a bag at this price point is a great deal, IMO.

What is your go-to day pack when one-bagging?
The Tortuga Outbreaker Daypack. I'm usually traveling in urban environments, so need to take laptop, chargers, water bottle, and a jacket. This packs down flat and fits great in the laptop compartment of the Minaal 3.0, and I've even one-bagged some weekend trips with it.
