Compared to the usual "boots on the ground" sorta campaign that every FPS was doing back then, Titanfall 2 felt like a breath of fresh air. You have the incredible Titan vs Titan fights, you have these big levels that has moving platforms with droid enemies. The way the lore and the world had been built using these story devices have been nothing but amazing.

The first Titanfall quickly vanished from my radar because of the unfortunate decision to forgo a single player campaign. Titan combat was also greatly refreshing after so many games where you spend the entire time running around on foot with nothing to change up the pace. And like I said, compared to the likes of Halo 5, Call of Duty and Battlefield that released around Titanfall 2, Titanfall 2 was heads and shoulders above the competition because it was so refreshing to play an FPS that was willing to take risks and break from the herd.
