Thrustmaster TH8A

T-CLM are awesome. I use them with my TH8A as well. Sweet set of pedals and shifter. All I do is truck sim these days but they’re great.

I purchased this pedal because it was supposed to be compatible with my TMX Pro wheel... I thought if I went with the TH8A over the Fanatec or Logitech shifters, I would be able to save myself a USB slot by plugging it into the wheel... Nope, I was wrong! I understand that the TH8A is high quality, but I've seen someone take that thing a part and there's no way I can justify paying basically the same price as my T150 Pro for just an addon shifter that probably costs them 40$ to make. Are there any other alternative shifters of similar quality as the TH8A with a reasonable price?.

I purchased this gear shifter in 2019 and used it for 28 days before returning it. I had tried the cheaper Logitech Shifter, which was decent for the price, but the quality of this Thrustmaster is far superior to the plastic Logitech Shifter. He will need a wheel and pedals minimum, and better would be a wheel, pedals (including clutch pedal,) and shifter. The Thrustmaster T300RS is $400 for wheel and 3 pedals but doesn't include a shifter. The Thrustmaster TH8A shifter is $170. You could also go with the Thrustmaster T150 Pro for $250 and that with the shifter would put you right around your $400 price point.

Just get the TH8A if you really feel the need for an h-pattern shifter on Xbox with your Thrustmaster wheel. Your only other option is the Fanatec shifter (or FREX shifter) which costs more, plus the cost of the DriveHub adapter.

I use the TH8A as an handbrake using its analog mode (it uses the area from neutral to 7th gear) so for that, you can get a cheap setup on a desk, I will be getting a wheel mount soon so I might find a way to mount the TH8A to the mount. Most likely a long book like my yearbook should do it (it also is used right now to mount my wheel to my desk). Overall your setup looks great!.
