 But if you bottom out the key, well, you'll start sprinting. On this Apex Pro Mini, you can map up to eight dual action keys. There are a few other more subtle benefits. Like since there isn't a physical mechanism to wear out or need to be debounced, these switches should last considerably longer than standard mechanical ones and should even be faster in the response time department too, which is definitely a nice benefit, especially for gaming

 And I'm happy to say that they've gotten even better since then. Unlike the Wooting keyboards, at least the original ones that use the FlareTech optical switches with mirror elements, these Omnipoint switches use magnets and hall effect sensors to know how far you've pressed any of the keys. That lets them do some pretty cool and unique features that very few other boards can offer. The most universally useful option that this gives you is the actuation point control

 The switches feel great, the features are definitely a nice bonus, and the software is pretty good. I did have an issue doing that whole dual-action mapping thing where Shift plus W just didn't work, it wouldn't run, but it would run other keys instead, so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or something's broken, but either way, it definitely isn't bad. I think if I was going to buy either of them, I would definitely buy the wired version, because I don't really want to have to wake it up constantly, and equally, if you're gonna have to have it plugged in once a week to keep it charged, then you may as well just leave it plugged in 24-7, and you don't need to worry about a lithium battery cell exploding and puffing up that you can't replace in a few years. With that said, those are my thoughts, but I'd love to hear yours in the comments down below

 For typing, you might prefer to smash down on the keys like I do. So setting the actuation point relatively deep means you won't have any accidental key presses as you have to push all the keys basically all the way down to be able to trigger them. But for gaming, you might prefer a higher actuation point to make it feel more like a hair trigger, to make your moves feel snappier and more responsive. Well, with the Apex Pro line, that's something you can control

And you know, I really wish they would have had more of that SteelSeries Apex design language on this, like on the Apex Pro and the TKL, the nice smooth edges to the body, maybe even like, you know, up in the corner, find some way to fit in a little volume dial or just something to make it look better and more SteelSeries like. But speaking of which, we do have three pieces of branding on the keyboard, two on the backside in front of the case

4 gigahertz wireless connection through their Quantum 2.0 tech, or you can switch it to the Bluetooth mode if you want to use that, or like I said, just go wired if you don't want to worry about the battery dying on you. But in that case, why even buy the wireless model to begin with? So as you can see, just taking a look at it, no extra bells and whistles.  So I would have different presets where you have it as a standard actuation point for everything else and then a different profile just for gaming. So they're nice and quick. But yeah, I mean, they felt good. Gaming felt just very snappy

 Keycaps here are an upgrade from the old super glossy ones. These are your typical, you know, double shot PBT with some decent but subtle texture to them. Plus the characters are a nice clean font with even shine through to enhance the visual pop if you go crazy with the RGB lighting effects. Now, as a 60% keyboard, you obviously lose those extra physical keys, but as most 60%s nowadays, we have side printed legends

NEW SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless Keyboard Review!

 I have my studio lights on, you can still see all of the RGB on there really easily, so nice and bright on here. It is just in the switches, there's nothing around the perimeter, so there are some other keyboards that offer that, but this one's kept pretty simple. SteelSeries has put four buttons in the lower right of the keyboard, one of which is a function key that enables navigation and secondary functions from the rest of the keyboard. The legends are visible on the fronts of the keycaps, so you can easily find what you're looking for

 Personally, I probably wouldn't pay for that extra functionality. You know, if I really wanted those switches, I would go for the wired version. Although this does look nice and tidy on a desk with a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard, it really cleans everything up. But personally, I don't know that I could justify spending that extra money for that

 So overall, I mean, there's nothing really bad to complain about on this case for the Apex Pro Mini Wireless, but, you know, once again, at that price point, it just doesn't necessarily have that super premium feel that you would maybe expect. In the box, the keyboard also includes a USB-A to USB-C cable, an orange keycap puller, a USB-C adapter, and a USB-C wireless dongle. And of course, 60% keyboards aren't a great fit for productivity for me because of that. So that's where a slightly larger board like the Alloy Origin 65 is a great fit for me

 And overall, looking at the back of the keyboard here, you know, it just has this kind of plastic-y feel to it that doesn't quite scream $240. Now, obviously, like, the case isn't, you know, the big thing that you're paying for here, it's the wireless functionality and those adjustable switches, but, you know, for that kind of money, you'd maybe like to see something that looks and feels a little bit more premium. The keyboard itself does have a decent amount of heft to it. I think that's, you know, the battery also helps out with that as well
