My Costco memory foam mattress served me well for 13 years, especially for the value, but it is and always has been quite hot, and that has cost me a lot of sleep over the years. I think memory foam has probably improved at dissipating heat in the past decade, but most will still run hot, I assume.

Looking at this [Eco Sleep](https://www.mattresses.net/queen-eco-sleep-latex-mattress.html) as well, but I have no idea what firmness level I would like. I am a stomach sleeper. I lean towards medium. 

Ideally I could try out some latex mattresses locally, but they are rare to find around town, and would probably be a bit different from those online. Still wouldn't hurt to try one out in the store.

 It should be "support" vs "less support," since less air just makes the mattress sink in, not softer. That was an expensive mistake. Other less pricey, but still expensive mistakes: wool, which actually works really well but eventually flattens after a few months; feather, which works but flattens sooner than wool; memory foam--this was a mattress and it was firm, hot and terrible. I have not yet tried memory foam toppers

  Update: they did pay for the return shipping and refunded my money, so I’ll give them props for that.

However, they have a way to go to convince me that they actually care about their consumers, since they have not bothered getting certified/do not include a cover and make the packaging and return process so cumbersome.  I am not sure why it did not help, but I suspect it flattens too much, making my ribs compress against the mattress, as usual. It was not very hot, so at least there is that, since I am a hot sleeper.  One other thing bothered me is that this topper is not GOLS or GOTS certified, so I do not trust the "green" quality of this latex.  So, I decided to return it

Pure Green Natural Latex Topper Review

I took apart my 8+ year-old Beautyrest and replaced the foam layers with a 3" soft talalay layer (from Latex Mattress Factory). Here are pictures of the take-apart process and the current state.

 The 19 ILD talalay layer is not too soft; the overall feeling of the mattress is medium-firm. The mattress is a little bouncy but not too much - just perfect.

 Changing to a thicker mattress cover has solved the problem for now but the 100+ days will soon return, so the outcome is "iffy" but not insurmountable. We can still add a second mattress cover.

 I did t expect it to be worth anything, but I love it. I used to get leg sweats really badly when sleeping, and haven’t had them for quite a while. I hate soft mattresses, but the topper is plush and I feel like I’m floating. I remained surprised that it’s so effective

I bought a hybrid bed but it’s too firm. I don’t want a memory foam topper I don’t think. I sleep hot and memory foam in my experience is meh. I’m thinking of a pillow topper, but all the lists I find for “best mattress topper” are paid for by Amazon and just not reliable IMO.

What mattress toppers have people liked?

This tends to shift just a bit I'm going to try to secure with velcro. I will try to remember to update I have found that latex is very comfortable for sleeping.
