Additionally, this trike rusts badly if left outside, and since we don't have a garage, I had to leave it outside often.

 I read all the reviews and was very excited, but when we took the bike out of the box the S label on the seat was all bubbled and looked like someone had already tried to pill it off. The finders were poorly painted and the decal stickers were crooked and bubbled as well. I am surprised. Schwinn is a good bran and you would think they would take more pride in their product

Both my children, now in their twenties, had Schwinn bikes. I ordered this tricycle for my two year old grandson expecting the same quality I remembered. I was disappointed in the workmanship. The chevron decals on the fenders were applied crooked

 That is not my main issue however. Some, not all, of the wheels are terribly malformed.  As another reviewer found, the footrest could not be "retracted or extended by pulling down on the plastic foot rest release" as per the instructions. I had to unscrew the plastic caps, move the footrest and rescrew the caps

Love it yet hate it

 The handle that you hold to push gets out of line with the front tire a lot so you have to stop and hold the back handle straight while you turn the handle bars on the front to line it up again. We have had older kids over to play who have tried to pedal to ride the tricycle and the front handle bars get out of line with the tire a lot and it becomes very difficult for them to ride because its not going the direction they are trying to go. (when they turn the front tire doesn't turn with it) I'm not sure if there is something that we can fix to correct this problem but if there isn't then this won't make a very good tricycle for my son to learn how to pedal on and we would have to purchase something else BUT I had hoped that this would last him until he was ready for a bigger bike! I am also disappointed that the tires are plastic, it would be a much better product had they been rubber.

 Its very aesthetically pleasing and we love that it has the belt, basket in front and backpack on the back (the dumping basket on the back is not very practical since when your walking if you put things there and hit a bump it will dump out...would be nice if there was a way to secure it when you didn't want it to be a dumping play basket so you could carry a diaper bag or purse in there!) The pushing handle is easily taken off and put back on so we can put the tricycle into our small car to take places!  Now for the flaws

.the plastic sometimes slides on surfaces and the tire won't even turn. For the price you would think they could give you a nice set of wheels!  Overall this trike is a hit with all the kids we know and especially my son, who adores it! If the steering issues are something that can be corrected then the peg placement can be overlooked but for the price you would really think that all the parts should work well.

Love this tricycle but it has some flaws

 Seeing mine and their tricycle in action, I have to say I'm really glad I settle for the Schwinn's. For one, the Little Tike's seems smaller, made with even more plastic than the Schwinn's, and like the reviewers of that particular tricycle have posted, the shade attached on top keeps blowing up and away. The Schwinn's tricycle is larger and I can see my child using up until 5 years or older. While I won't go so far as to say the Schwinn's tricycle is solid, heavy, and durable, I would say it is more durable than the other tricycles I have seen

A year later...

As I stated in the headline, this is such a cute retro trike. Every time my 2 year-old granddaughter comes over and sees it, she says "ooohhhh"! A couple of issues have been resolved. I was very frustrated with Pacific Cycle but ended up being more than satisfied. The original shipment did not include the main frame

 She was so helpful. Not only did we get the new grips (and a new bell); Missy asked if my granddaughter had a helmet, which she did not. We received two helmets, one infant and one toddler size! Needless to say, I went from extreme frustration to being totally satisfied! My granddaughter loves the trike and I'm so pleased with how the situation was resolved! Thank you Missy!!

 The tires are very nice with rotation arrows for direction of rotation but all are mounted rotating backwards. There are other things like a pair of screws to mount a part to the frame that don't match. The size and threads are different so we just drove them in with our electric Dewalt screwdriver ( it will hold just fine). I went into such detail so you can feel like you know exactly what you will receive
