Schiit Bifrost 2

So now picking up with what I was going to say, by the way, I had to take the whole cover off again and shake the thing out to get that Micro SD card ...

For everybody else on the planet, I think the Bifrost Ii is an absolute winner and I highly recommend it.

But the decay on the Bifrost 2 just sounds better. More resonance and tactility. Lower-frequency harmonics linger after each pluck/hit in a musical, realistic way, and these passages take on a new, richer quality.

I'm happy with the HD800, Asgard, and Bifrost I use daily. Haven't changed my setup in 6 years and I probably won't anytime soon.

The idea of buying multiple headphones just for the sake of collecting is insane to me.

I'll just say Yeah Bifrost 2 very Circle sounding soundstage & Chip based dacs you don't notice it until you A/B them but "oval by comparison" is a good way to put it, They have a front wall of sound thats sort of { shaped, you'd never know until you try a R2R or Multibit, then it just ruins it for you. As for the rest good review.

When paired with a warm DAC such as the Bifrost 2, I was just lost in the music. The bass hits really hard, especially with my LCD-2 Fazor. The mids are simply out of this world. From a range of instruments to male/female vocals, the layering, textures, weight, and decay are all presented to you on a silver platter.

The setup is Monolith THX 887, Schiit Bifrost 2 and HD800s and I'm really happy with the sound result (no comparison here sorry I don't own anything to compare it to yet. My other contender when building this system was the Hifiman Arya but given that it was my first system, I decided to play it safe and go for Sennheiser and its german engineering. I also am used to the consumer grade Sennheiser products (True Wireless, CX 6.00 BT and liked their sound signature).

My first one was the Sony XBA-1, and from then on the headphone train track was shifted from the headphone world to the IEM world. I sold my Asgard 2 and Bifrost MB and upgraded them to Bifrost 2 and Saga 1 to feed my HS7 speakers. Going back to IEMs, I quickly found that they're far easier to get great sound with even smartphones thus the appeal of chasing the nirvana with upgrading headphone amps had ceased in my mind.

**DAC:** Schiit Bifrost 2. I went back and forth between buying this or the Chord Qutest but ultimately I thought this might have a bit more character and work better with what I already had.

The current Bifrost 2 and the original MB DAC are full fledge R2R DACs (they're essentially ladder resistors on a chip)
