Another standout feature is the lid lock system, which holds the lid in place in the fully-open position for easy access while working or cleaning, and then can be locked shut so kids and pets can't get into it. But our testers found that a lighter-weight trash can like the Rubbermaid Premier Series means that it can be pushed around or knocked over by kids and pets a bit more easily.  But that's also where the troubles is and the MAJOR Con is The lever mechanism for this is too strong for the connectors liitle connects that attch the top to the the can itself. The little nubs that connect to the can are oddly shaped and their slots are shallow. This causes the top to disconnect on one side from the pressure from the lid being pushed open after 3-5 times. Since it took a bit to get this and I had exhausted my other options since I had to have a good locking lid due to a kitty who likes to dig in the trash, I tried to fix this problem

.I'm just really disappointed that this wasn't designed better so the thing doesn't fall apart. I am sadly on the hunt again for a trashcan that is kitty proof and works :/

 I first tried adding sand to the to get some extra weight hoping that would help this stay together since the base for the lid is very lightweight but that did nothing. Then my husband finally broke down and took ducktape to add more length to the nubs connecting the top to the can while also putting some inside their sockets with the adheives faceing the nubs to help create a stronger hold on the whole top part. This worked for awhile but after a couple of months we've had to redo the same thing a second time because it finally gave way again.

 Instead if you step on it too hard(a normal step honestly) the lid clicks and gets stuck open regardless of it being locked or not. We are constantly having to nudge it shut again. Another issue is the lock serves no purpose because if the bin gets knocked over the part used to conceal the bag just opens. The locking feature does not lock it shut

So %95 of the time the lid is stuck open if you don't pay attention, and just throw and go

 I can't for the life of me get the lid to close automatically after it is opened. It has to be pushed down. I have fiddled with this thing over and over again and it just won't work unless you barely step on the pedal so that it only opens a couple inches. But in normal life you step on it, it pops open all the way and there is where it stays
