 Yeah. The other bit of versatility with this bike that I like is it it does. It does come in an extra small that's a 27.5 The small can be either wheel size and those two smaller sizes have a different shock length, stroke length with the shock, which I think is you know they're trying to kind of get that same ride quality across the board

 There's a wide range of how it affects the geometry and yeah, I just feel like I need a lot of time to really get that feeling. Perfect for me. What? I think you've kind of uncovered here by using one of the sort of variable positions that not a lot of people mess with is you've made it so that you're like, oh, I can add progressivity without adding a volume spacer to the shock, which takes a little more work than doing this right. And then there's also the chainstay length chip

 you know, I mean, they've They've always done a pretty good job of keeping up with the joneses, you know, But um, I think that continues forward with this model. It's really clean looking pivots. They have a little like loam shelf guard yeah back there to keep stuff from getting in there and grinding the frame apart in the main pivot. The last few iterations of Rocky's new bikes just the fit and finish is so dialed

 so I put it in this lack of setting. but what you can do is you can actually adjust the progressivity. So I was like, oh, I like the slackness, but what if I had not only a little more bottom out resistance but a little more small bump. So I flipped that thing up to the more progressive but the slack setting and it was kind of a cool process of making this really all-around bike suit my needs

Rocky Mountain Instinct Review - The Beta Tests

Looking at a new FS for next year, ride in Ontario Canada. 5k budget (CAD), Fairly heavy in the 6’2” 260lb range so the guys at the LBS advised staying away from the shorter travel bikes like the Ripley for the trails I ride. LBS recommended XL (availability aside) between Rocky Mountain Instinct A30, Salsa Blackthorn Deore, and Ibis Ripmo AF Deore.

 Where is another place where you can ask a lot of questions? I'll be better able to answer those questions there as well. I ride a ton of different bikes and in terms of mid-travel trail bikes, they're always going to give up something. This bike gives up something. a little bit to my Ibis Ripley, which is like a more short travel fast cross-country trail bike, right? It gives up something to its older brother, the Rocky Mountain Altitude, which is a really long travel bike

 gives you something you can kind of stand on and uh, then descending. I open it back up and uh, we'll get to the descending here in just a minute. but uh, climbing is good. you know

 uh, climbing look. I've had this bike for about three weeks now. I've ridden a number of times. The bike climbs good, but like, like all Rockies, you know you gotta flip it

2021 Rocky Mountain Instinct Test Ride & Review

I'm in the hunt for my first full suspension. We are selling our house and my amazing wife agreed to let me purchase a slightly higher end bike. My top three are the Orbea Occam, Ibis Ripmo, and the Pivot Switchblade. 

I am east coast and ride a lot of chunky, flowy trails. I like the tech even though I'm not great at it. I want to progress and get better at riding.

They are all great bikes. I don't think I'd lose too much picking anyone of them.

What would you pick if you were in my shoes? And why?

<div class="md">Edit: I went with the Ibis Ripmo and have no regrets. It&#39;s a great bike. I rode the Occam for a few days (rental in CO) and it was okay. I really wanted the Switchblade but they are hard to find and really expensive. Jenson got stock on a few Ripmo&#39;s and I ordered an SLX build right away. A few rides under my belt and I&#39;m in love.

Looking to upgrade to a nicer bike between now and spring next year, looking to see what options I should consider.

So, currently have a Giant Trance 29 3, which has 130mm in the front, 115mm in the rear, both of which I'm bottoming out on my local Enduro trails.

I have been riding the local Enduro trails a lot this year, steep, rocky, rooty, with some jumps. The climb is basically a vertical access road. I also ride some typical New England trails, so I don't necessary need an Enduro specific bike, as it's not all I will be riding.

Budget I'm aiming for is under $5k, with the biggest stipulation being there are very few bike shops near me. Local carries Trek and Revel, most other shops are 2 hours+ away, so if ordering online is an option, I'd like that. I drove about 2.5 hours to pick up the bike I have now, so I'm open to that option for the right bike.

I don't know how much more travel I *need*, but I definitely need more. I like 29, but I've never ridden 27.5, not sure what's best there.

So, shoot me some recs to check out over the winter season.

Need to upgrade, looking to spend no more than $5k

I have a Rocky instinct bc (160/155 travel) 29er and I love it. I ride the North Shore and Squamish and it’s been perfect for riding out here. Also have a DH bike for riding bike park so I don’t trash my nice bike riding park haha. I see a ton of Norco and Rocky since they’re local brands to the shore

<div class="md">Looking into getting a new bike. Currently live in Ontario but planning on moving Van/Squamish next summer. I currently have a 2019 Trek Fuel EX 8 that I love but I want to upgrade before I head out (could maybe hold onto this and have 2 bikes but probably not the smart financial play). I much prefer the descent but want to be able to climb (doesn’t need to be fast uphill) and would like to be able to go for multi-hour rides. Brand options are Santa Cruz, Rocky Mountain, Norco, and Pivot. I was out in BC this past summer and rode a Commencal Meta AM 29”, a SC Megatower, and a V10 (in Whistler bike park). Never really had to climb any days on these bikes (buddy has a Tacoma and we did shuttle laps), but this won’t always be an option. Would something like a SC Hightower be too little for Squamish or the odd bike park day? Should I bump up to a Megatower or Altitude (even though I’m not a fan of the 2022 colourway)? What kind of travel do you have for your bike if you’re in the Sea to Sky and don’t have a stable of mtbs? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I know I don’t need to update but I want to. I know I want more travel than the 130/130 I currently have and a little more aggressive geo. I work at a bike shop that carries these brands, hence the limitations. Im just wondering which bike from those 4 brands you would recommend for Van/Squamish/Pemby/Whistler/the island/etc if you could only pick one.
