 Hi, I'm Jeff Peterson with RME, and I would like to tell you today about the new Fireface

 UFX Plus that's just beginning to ship in the United States.

 This is our new flagship interface, UFX Plus is the new evolution of the Fireface UFX.

 So let's look today at some of the differences between the UFX and the new UFX Plus.

 In terms of audio performance, they're very close, the Fireface UFX Plus is of course

 a few years newer design, so using different ADDA chips and a little better performance

 in terms of the mic pre and your specs on your ADDA.

 Not a night and day difference, but a nice upgrade all the same.

 On the original Fireface UFX, you had 30 channels input, 30 channels output, that's 12 analog

 inputs and out, 16 channels on ADAT, digital expansion, and stereo AES.

 On the UFX Plus, we have that same exact I.O., except it adds a MADI port on top of that.

 MADI, M-A-D-I, stands for Multi-Channel Audio Digital Interface.

 This is an AES standard that is used primarily in live sound and broadcast, but also in a

 So what that MADI port is going to allow you to do is to add another 64 channels of mic

 preamps, ADDA converters, you'll be able to connect direct to a digital mixer and record

 live shows right to your Fireface and in turn to your computer.

 Having all this huge channel counts going on in the interface is important to have backup.

 in your own USB media and record multi-track audio direct to the drive.

I’m looking at interfaces like the Apollo x16 or 8p, antelope Orion 32+ etc.  My budget is between 2k-5k. I would hate to buy something along these lines and have a newer updated interface drop shortly after.

New 8, 16 or 32 channel interfaces?

 They had me do the same simple things over and over to the point of frustration. I also had occasional sound dropouts and stutters. I finally sent the unit back and am purchasing an Apogee Ensemble. It's too bad, because the sound quality of the UFX is wonderful and the software/hardware deep and rich
