Fast forward, I purchased the City L6 two months ago, and can say that it’s a solid machine for $700. I (215 lb / 97 kg) use it for walking multiple times during the day, as well as my wife ( she insists I do not post her weight). The stops are a bit sudden, so you have to slow down before you stop, but that is really the only complaint. I bought direct from Proform.

I purchased this through the ProForm website but they don't answer customer service emails so I think this is the only way to get their attention. I love the ProForm City L6, but there’s no incline :( then there’s the Echelon Stride, but you can use iFit (I have two other machines that I use my iFit membership with). I know you don’t need to get Echelon’s fitness membership (which is pretty $$$ IMO), but I also know how nice it is to have a fitness trainer while working out.

Had this for a month and its just what we needed.

The treadmill is heavy but we managed to get it out of the box and set up which was simple.

You could also look at the ProForm City L6, it's very compact and on the cheaper end of things as well, small motor so it'll only really work for walking, maybe a tiny bit of jogging, which I know you won't be doing anyway. There are probably some cheaper options on Amazon but I can't speak to whether or not those $300 treadmills are going to last you very long at all.

If you need something super compact I would recommend checking out the ProForm City L6 treadmill. The functionality isn't quite up to par with the other treadmills I mentioned but it's super compact and fits in your budget. Echelon also makes a super compact folding machine but the price tag on that one is a bit outside your budget.
