Pentel Orenz

For the price, you can't go better than that. A real bang for the buck. Next on the list: the Pentel Graph 1000, Faber-Castell TK-Fine, Pentel orenz and the Rotrings.

Certainly a decent pencil. Yes, the support shroud around the lead does what it’s supposed to. For me though, it’s not that great of an improvement in my writing frustration to have me buy another when this one breaks, or I lose it.

The Platinum Oleenu, Uni Kuru Toga Advance and Pentel Orenz really stood out for general writing. The sleeves retracts as the lead wears down so clicking to advance lead happens very infrequently. And the Kuru Toga's really do work well, not so much for cursive but pens are better for that kind of writing anyways.

I hate these pencils, I’m taking drafting classes, the tip is unpredictable and collapses a lot, maybe I got a defective model though. I had to buy new pencils for the next class. Not this model.

I have bought Orenz mech pencils in the past and love them. Nice weight, feel, nib and pleasant to draw and write with. I've never seen a single pack with multiple hardnesses in - possibly because there's the practical issue of if they were in the same container, how would you know which lead grade was which?. 0.2mm lead is only available in limited grades, and not all manufacturers make 0.2mm leads (I think it may only be Pentel who make 0.2mm mechanical pencils, there are Sanrio branded 0.2mm MPs but they look very much like the Pentel Orenz.)

So the Pentel Orenz System uses a sliding metal Sleeve to protect the lead as it is used the Sleeve retracts into the Pencil Body. I have attached a picture of the packaging. Honestly, it works really well but I have only used it on 0.2mm Leads thus far. These work good but I had to try 0.7. I don't...

I like my 0.3 mm Orenz, no need to rotate the pencil, or to advance the lead. It's like writing with a ball point, as far as manipulation goes.

Never had a Toga that worked well for more than two weeks.

One of the few 0.3mm lead pencils I found that lasted. Getting use to the way it writes with the moving metal sleeve took a little bit, but it was more durable (the pencil, not just the lead) than a lot of others I tried.
