 This is the biscuits and sausage gravy. I've already tasted it. It's amazing. I'll tell you that

 So this is a large meal for the biscuits and gravy. 1100 calories for this particular meal, which is a ton. But even like more simple meals like their Mountain Berry Granola, 570 calories for the entire pack. But this will take like four to eight ounces of water depending on how like soupy you want your granola

 It's amazing. I'll tell you that. And then the chicken coconut curry and then a Dalbot that is a vegan option that is also part of the new meals that are launching today. So when I say and talk about like these Peak meals are the best or they make me feel the best and I enjoy them the most compared to other brands, hear me out and understanding that the other brands of food Packet Gourmet, Mountain House, Backpackers Pantry, they're not bad meals, but there are certain aspects about these Peak Refuel meals that as I have been eating them pretty much every single trip that I have gone on for the past two, two and a half years, I feel good after eating them because they have really good nutritional value to them

Do I Still Love Peak Refuel After 2 Years? AND 3 NEW MEALS!

Best tasting ones I have ever had are Peak Refuel. However they are super unhealthy for you.

Big fan of freeze-dried meals. If it that lazy morning or rainy night to know just a cup of hot water can get me a well deserved meal is the ultimate safety net of reassurance. 

I like mountain house, my go-to even brought one of their large family size 30 days prep boxes just to get them at a wapping $5.50 a meal. Coming to the end of my box as I just am pulling from it when I go camping. But I have my issues with it. Mainly box sets are just really odd. Super mixed bag that focus on unfavorable flavors, some serving size of 2 and some are 1. Also some breakfast options if bought out of season are cheaper at Walmart. Oh and they count that two serving size as a meal BTW. All that said still a PRETTY GOOD meal.

In walks Huel... Not the greatest shake meal replacement IMO. Also shake meals camping seem like a un desirable bathroom tax. However they got a new product line called "Hot and savory" advertising $2.51 a meal. I don't see my luxurious breakfast items... Most look to be rice with some protein.

Here's the question: has anybody tried these Huel hot and savory meals?? 

Or is there another freeze-dried meal bag option you would recommend? A hot water only option.

 Unfortunately the taste just doesn’t compare. Nothing wrong with this by any means especially if you’re looking for the most bang for the buck. I’m not opposed to trying other meals from this brand, but I’ll stick with my MH for breakfast.

I tried it

 This is a little food cozy I had made out of the Reflectix wrap that you can buy online. I got a good roll of it and using some HVAC insulation tape around the whole entire thing coupled with some Velcro straps here makes a nice environment for you to stick a freezer bag in so that it can rehydrate without losing that heat since it has to sit and cook. So we'll come back to this in about six or seven minutes give it a stir and then put it back in the bag. Five minutes later

 There's big chunks of mushroom in here that I'm just in love with right now. Spiral Rotini Noodle. The sauce in this, it's not, it's stroganoff so it's not like an alfredo. It's got like a nice creamy sour cream kind of taste

 There's these big chunks, big chunks of beef here, big chunks of mushroom. And the beef is chewy, like chewy like it should be, you know. There's big chunks of mushroom in here that I'm just in love with right now. Spiral Rotini Noodle

It's one of the things that guided me towards choosing Peak Refuel over like say Mountain House. Is the portions in the Peak Refuel are a lot more polar than the Mountain House

Happy to have switched to Peak, ingrediants are higher quality and the food just tastes better. Has more protein too. I found the Peak Refuel packages for 13.99 each; this is for Breakfast Skillet and all of their entree meals

Anyone know what's going on with Mountain House? The store I work at hasn't been able to get in their product and I was told they were soon going to discontinue selling MH. Also, MH removed themselves from ExpertVoice.

On a solo camping trip this summer I decided to eat just Mountain House meals and see how it went. 

First night's chicken and potatoes tasted mainly of salt but went down OK. 

Breakfast the next morning was egg scramble with hashbrown and... tasted mainly of salt. I could not finish it. 

I had one more day to go and could not bring myself to touch another MH package. I am not a picky or high-maintenance eater but just could not do it.

The odd thing is that I've eaten MH before and did not have this reaction. But given this experience they will no longer be a main part of our preps or relied on as the only food source for more than one meal.

Edited to add: Your tastes may change over time. Just because it used to work for you doesn&#39;t mean it still does. Use your preps regularly to make sure they still meet your needs.

Down voting Mountain House: a semi-cautionary tale

 that said, its very hard to ignore the salty taste of these, and I wish there would be dedicated "low sodium" options. Finally.. there is a lot of plastic packaging here, with foil lining making it entirely impossible to recycle, this is entirely single-use packaging, would love to see this with alu-foil linking in a paper or cardboard type bag

Its hard to hike the sierras while creating such a footprint per meal. just saying, I would like to vote with my money on this, but there are not any really good alternatives

Maybe the best tasting Peak Refuel

 And then the breakfast skillet itself is really just full of eggs, sausage, potatoes and peppers so all we needed to do was open the pouch, carefully add two cups of boiling water which I've already got the water boiled and then you just stir it, let it sit for 15 and enjoy it. So stay tuned, we get the water in, see what it looks like. Okay so I just started opening the packaging and one thing I noticed is that it's filled really full and I don't know if I'll be able to actually reseal it once we get the water in but we'll see what it looks like here. Again two cups of water and then we'll throw it in and let it sit

 Alright, how's everybody doing? Danny Schafer back with another video and we're here on the Lake Chelan shoreline trail at the Moore Point campground and we're about to make breakfast and I thought I'd do a quick review of the Peak to Refuel breakfast skillet. So Tess and I are going to be splitting it this morning and just to get a quick bite and that's before we take off on the trail. So here's the macros on it, we've got 320 per serving or 640 per package if you want to eat it all yourself. Per package we've got 33 grams of fat, carbs 47 grams, protein 39 grams

 Okay so about 15 minutes has passed and I think our breakfast skillet is ready and this is what it looks like on the inside. Doesn't look too bad. So we'll plate it and divvy it up between test and eye and give it a taste test here. Alright so there's a plate of the peak refuel breakfast skillet and I think we need a little bit of hot sauce to go on there
