High quality, lightweight, durable, waterproof, breathable protection.

All in all, very nice and light weight, and very, very comfortable.

From around town it's overkill but if you actually take it out for sport it'll hold just fine. If money isn't an issue for you I'd go with the Pluma.

I prefer the cut of this jacket over the Arcteryx Beta AR or Beta LT or Rab Muztag.

That’s fine for mild conditions, but for more severe weather protection I’d go with a proper GoreTex shell — as I mentioned I opted for the Pluma. It’s very close to a Arcteryx Beta LT/AR (right in between those 2 in terms of fabric weight, which I think is ideal). The Calcite is another option too, but I wanted GoreTex Pro rather than Paclite.

I tried the Pluma for about a month before returning it for the Calcite. To be honest, I couldn't tell much of a difference, especially enough to justify the $300ish difference in price. It keeps me completely dry in the Florida monsoons and is pretty breathable to me, I can wear it in the middle of summer with no issues. With that being said, I only use it for very casual wear around the city.

At $550 if I was going to spend that much I’d get Arc’Teryx cause those shells are bulletproof. Either way though the Pluma is a great jacket you’d most definitely have for many years.
