This jacket as I say is plenty warm and actually benefiting from a bit of air.

* It is not waterproof. The cuffs and the bottom of the jacket will get wet and then soaked and then annoying. The hood and all of the fur fleece lining is going to be a sponge for everything wet ... in the snow ... * It is lined with fleece/fur - so it has one temperature setting warm to hot - when you want to cool off your only option is to unzip your jacket, which may not be enough, comfortable, or advisable. * It does not vent (see above).

My patagonia isthmus parka is pretty nice, I normally break it out in that temp range and it's perfect. Patagonia also have a pretty incredible warranty and are built about as well as jackets can be.

You might try and find a second hand coat if you don't think you'll need to use it after that. I use a Patagonia parka for cold days, but it was like $400 (however it's lasted 8+ years). Make sure whatever you get has a wind shell / windbreaker type layer.

I have an Isthmus Parka and it is by far the warmest jacket I have and I own a few Patagonia jackets. I found it to be kinda slim fitting so I sized up(it is a parka afterall so it shouldnt be slim fitting), and sizing up was the best choice. So comfortable and cozy. I have the 2020 model, I only ever needed a tshirt under this jacket all the way down to teen temps.

Get a parka of some sort imo. I have a patagonia isthmus parka that I absolutely love, but fjallraven, or arc'teryx also make great BIFL parkas (tons of others to, those just come to mind quickly).

The one i recently bought and i think looks very good is the 'Isthmus parka'. I'm from Belgium and I know what it's like to use your bike every day. It's stops wind and rain and is perfect for our winters, when it's really cold i suggest you to use a big sweater under the parka. Link:
