Patagonia Capilene Cool Daily

My go to is Capilene Cool daily from Patagonia. Can't handle cotton any more. Just seems heavy in feel, holds smells instantly after a day. Has both graphic and non graphic choices.

You don’t really have to shop around for the highest UPF rating. Even UPF 15 should be more than enough for most people. Outdoor Research’s Echo and Patagonia’s capilene cool daily are pretty popular. The cap cool daily was recently “recalled” because they found the UPF rating to be closer to 35 than the 50+ advertised but that shouldn’t be a huge issue.

The Patagonia capilene cool daily fits that bill, I believe, apart from the partial turtle neck. They may do a version with that neck, but I'm not sure. Good luck. 👍

Capilene Cool from Patagonia would be your huckleberry if you ask me. Can get graphic ones or plain. Recommend starting with the Daily version. I’ve replaced nearly all of my cotton shirts with them.

Stick with the Patagonia Cool Daily shirts. Even though Patagonia’s own testing of them showed that they weren’t accurate, they still provide around 20-30 upf protection if I’m remembering correctly. I’m a fellow pale dude and they have gotten me through 5 years of living in the desert without burning.

My fav Ts are Patagonia Capilene cool daily. I'm not a merino tshirt freak as I find it hard to get good fits, but Aviator also does merino clothing. Their T is my merino t of choice, and their hoodie is actually awesome.

Patagonia Capilene “cool daily”. I burn and don’t tan, had malignant melanoma, and am super careful about sun exposure. Probably have at least half a dozen of these. There was an error on the UPF testing of the lighter colors about a year ago, so research that if you are buying used.

For outdoor adventures consider a “sun hoody” like the Patagonia Capilene Cool Daily Hoody. Then keep a merino shirt in your bag to change into after. The capilene can smell a little after a long sweaty day.

The loose fabric also creates a buffer zone around your body where cooler temperatures can exist, also movement helps cycle that air in and out (as well as a breeze). All that being said not all sun hoodies are equal. They vary in weight, wicking, breathability, UPF and comfort. My two favorite are the Patagonia Capilene Cool daily sun hoodie and the Mountain Hardware Crater Lake hoody.
