Needs a little design improvement

 Next, I take a very sharp knife and score the skin where all the cuts will be when using the mango splitter, and down the sides. A very marked improvement in doing this! I dry a lot of mangos and after using the splitter, I cut the mangos lengthwise into large "home-fry" or "jojo" sized pieces then, if you have a very sharp narrow bladed fish fileting knife, you can remove the skin off the slices in seconds, just like doing a salmon . In all, I would definitely recommend this splitter, just know that to get the best results, you might need to touch up all the cutting edges. Hope this helps some of you out there!

A Good Idea!

 You have to line up the slicer with the mango perfectly, or you risk cutting into the seed which can be tough. It does cut through the seed but I don't like doing it too often because I worry I might damage the blade. Sometimes I get it going and then it gets stuck so I end up slamming it down on my cutting board to cut through part of the seed, instead of taking it out of the mango and re-slicing it. If your mango is too ripe it won't cut well at all

Smooth and easy to use

 In the America's test kitchen review they said they didn't run into a mango large or small that they couldn't cut but I just ran into a mango I had trouble slicing at all with the slicer. Its seed was tilted and I couldn't quite get it to cut. But on the whole, it's worked great. Also I use it after I peel the mango and slice a flat bottom

Better than the Zyliss, but needs a base.

This mango slicer has a blade that is much superior to the one on my old Oxo mango slicer. It cuts through the mango easily but I still do slice off the bottom so I can balance the mango and the top so I can see the seed and orient the slicer to accommodate it. I only wish that there were a smaller unit for small mangos so less fruit is left on the seed but if that were true I wouldn't be able to snack on all that residual fruit while standing over the sink with mango juice running down to my elbows, Julia Child style!
