The scalloped, uncoated pincers on our longtime favorite tongs felt very precise.  Other considerations: I was looking for one that will fit into the spatula compartment of my existing Cuisinart 14 pc bbq tool case--the one with the folding tab fits EXACTLY into the existing tong slot because of the folding tab , whereas the one with the non-folding black tab doesn't fit, is about 3/8"longer, so it would have to be placed diagonally and be a tighter fit among the other tools. If you just need tongs, then this would be fine. If for 5 bucks more you want the spatula, too, then go with the tong & spatula combo. (I'm placing this same review on the 2 piece offer, but with added comments on the spatula
