Hi it's Mark with at my home and today we're going to review the Orbit Beehive Xr. This is a smart indoor outdoor sprinkler timer and Orbit nicely sent us this to go give a review. So here we are doing the review and this is a really neat a sprinkler timer because it's bluetooth. It supports 16 stations so if you have 16 zones in your in your garden, you're in great shape

 And if you have any questions, if your lawn is getting brown and you want to pump up the water, you can go back in and make adjustments. It's really easy to use. The other thing is if you happen to pick up the flume which we do recommend then you'll know exactly how many gallons you use. So they've done a nice job of doing this integration and giving you the information you need to have a better lawn

I was very excited to get a smart sprinkler controller. But I’m worried my choice was poor. I’ve been using this control panel and the iOS app for about two months now… I just now figured out that, despite meticulous programming, one of my stations miraculously was left off the main program. So, I thought it was a user error

 I now have one station running on its own program, which seems a bit ridiculous… but it’s a workaround. I just did not want to have to have a workaround on a brand new system.  I’m also disappointed in the smart watering function. The forecast this thing uses differs from anything we actually experience

Even with smart watering off, I still have to fight off rain & wind delays. Wherever it’s getting its weather data from is wrong. Newer app version is a little more confusing and difficult to update zones than the previous version. All in all, I like the product but the mfr is at the point where they can either make a better product or bossy pile of $£!%

Alerts needed for skipped watering (after the fact, I get ones the night before but i've only gotten a couple compared to the dozens of missed) and when the grass has been at 0% water for hours/days so a person can intervein.  Other interface data from the local weather station. maybe someone is messing with it and that's why my watering was skipped

Settings are split in a weird way with some under the sprinkler and others under the device. pictures show up inconsistently, also adding them is a pain as it seamed I needed to be on Bluetooth wording on what some of the advanced settings do is poor

Smart watering is useless

 Setting up the Smart Watering feature requires quite a bit of gardening knowledge and time. You have to define type of soil, lighting, plant types etc. to set it up and it was just beyond me so I opted for a timed watering instead. In general it is a good alternative to a manual controller for me
