It's very much a plug and play amp. So the first thing that really strikes me about this amp is how easy it is to use.

I'm going to steer you away from the Katana and advise you to look at the Orange Crush 20RT instead. The reason being I think amps like the Katana in particular take too much fiddling with to get a good sound out of as an experienced player (by which point you'll probably be looking for something better anyway), and as a newbie you don't need to waste your time messing around with a lot of effects and voicings and stuff. And no, you shouldn't worry about pedals when you're starting out. You should be worrying about getting something simple to operate and learning how to actually play your instrument.

Hi everyone, been playing for a while with a orange crush 20rt 1x8 just for bedroom playing and jamming with some friends but we're starting to play some house/frat parties and I'm looking to get a bigger amp for these gigs. I mostly play rhythm guitar and we play everything from hendrix to zeppelin to the white stripes to metallica. Right now I'm leaning towards a tube amp but am also open to solid state.

Spent €150 on it and I'm very satisfied, both cleans and distortion are good.

Make sure you don't buy an amp with too many features, so you can focus on the actual guitar playing instead of effects and similar.

Overall it’s a great little practice amp, but I wish I would have saved the $50 and purchased the one without the reverb and tuner. The tuner doesn’t work at all.
