Yes. I bought a 2017 talon 2 as my first real mtb. I rode it enough to know I really enjoyed the sport and moved to my current Nukeproof Scout 290. I've especially loved the 1x drive train, dropper post, and killer brakes

is this a good beginner bike

 Luckily you can get the D2 Swiss Ln ratchet set to switch these out to the star ratchet and you can go all the way up to 54 tooth. that comes about 120. Um as well as we just most recently went to Reno, Nevada and wrote some just pretty sketchy gnarly downhill tracks with chunk and this bike has that ability to really save you. It can almost be like you know, a bit of a poppier enduro bike, but as well as have that suspension that suppleness in it to really save you when those drops, you know when you're hitting those fast off camber turns, this bike really comes alive and it gives you the confidence to push a little bit farther and a little bit harder

 I reviewed the 2020 version of the 290 Carbon and I absolutely that was one of my favorite bikes that we have reviewed and that I have owned and we will talk about if this new 2021 model has eeked it out and made it my new favorite.  Um, but I will say that the nukeproof Mega290 this new one is going to descend quite a bit better than that. You're going to be able to hit a little bit bigger lines and notice a little bit more comfort, so that would be the difference. Where I'd say the Transition Sentinel V2 is more of a heavy-duty all-mountain bike, where the Mega is a true enduro bike. Anyone feel that they ALREADY have their ideal bike, and if so what is it?

 rear derailleur has a deep and long scratch too and the rear axle didn't have any anti-seize grease that the bolt rounded when I tried to unscrew it. Although I was offered vouchers for these defects, it still is disappointing and not proportionate to the trouble it caused me.

Awesome bike

 I would recommend this bike if you are someone who likes to ride difficult downhill sections as fast as possible and hit big jumps and let the bike smooth out the landing for you. You seriously can charge on this bike. You just need to hang on and trust the bike. The brakes and the shocks will do their job

 This bike is every bit as capable and actually draws a little bit of envy from friends. Don't be put off by the aluminum not being carbon or the parts being Deore. The frame is excellent and Shimano Deore drivetrain and brakes are excellent. 

The trail that I ride most starts with an uphill climb for a mile with a rise in elevation of 600 feet. This bike is a great climber and I can make it to the top without walking. The Yari fork is capable of hitting big jumps with speed and keeping you out of trouble when your hitting a berm as fast as you can. The rear shock would be nice if it had a lockout but honestly if you mess with the rebound dial on climbs it kind of acts like a lockout

Capable of anything you throw at it!

This bike is so much fun to ride!  It is confidence-inspiring and stable on rough descents, but still has a good amount of mid-stroke support for popping off of jumps.  The steep seat tube angle makes it a great climber, even on technical and steep sections of trail.   According to my scale the bike weighed in at almost 35 lbs, size XL set up tubeless.  I switched the tires to Maxxis's dissector in the back and DHR2 in the front with exo plus casing and it rolls much faster, feels lighter, and hasn't sacrificed much in the way of grip

   I use a rock shocks digital shock pump to pressurize the rear shock to 165 lb and the fork to 64 lb.   With this setup, the suspension feels efficient while climbing and active while descending. 

  Because there's no lockout on the rear shock, I found it important to get the air pressure dialed just right for my weight.  I'm 6 ft 2 in tall 170 lb geared up.   I use a rock shocks digital shock pump to pressurize the rear shock to 165 lb and the fork to 64 lb.   With this setup, the suspension feels efficient while climbing and active while descending

 The Mega 290 replaced my previous enduro/bike park bike that cost literally twice as much (2016 Pivot Mach 6 Team).

I got this bike to add to my fleet mainly for enduro/bike park riding and it fits the bill 100%. I got this for my bike park runs as I have other mountain bikes for trail and XC rides and this bike is designed, spec'd, and built for exactly what I needed. Nothing more, nothing less. All I did was add pedals, swap out the grips, and I'm good to go
