 It's not quite skate pop, but it's not quite traditional camber pop either. You just sort of load as you go, and you get that rebound and snap out of it. They claim the story's a stiffer directional twin. I feel it's more middle of the road with a standard directional twin flex pattern, so softer nose, slightly stiffer midsection, and ever so slightly stiffer tail

The Niche Story Snowboard Review

Hey folks! I’ve been boarding for the past 10 years or so, and the last 4-5 years have been on a Burton Custom Flying V. I love the board but I’m looking for something that will let me carve harder and rip down groomers, glades, and subpar condition days (in the east that means ice). 

The Jones Flagship seems like a pretty sick board for carving and speed but I’m worried that it wouldn’t be great for some of the less aggressive terrain you inevitably have to spend time on in the east. Anyone have experience with this board or recommendations for other good carving boards?

I’m 6’0” and 165 lb

[GEAR QUESTION] Jones Flagship on East Coast?

 So you load up that rear camber section and you roll back and then you notice that it springs right off that rear contact point by the tail kick. Now it's not the snappiest board out there but it does get the job done. It's not one of these boards where you're going to load up and be able to pop to the moon but you can be a little more laid back with your load and still get solid spring with it. So when it comes to buttering you've got this flex point in the dead center which really lets you be lazy

 The torsional flex is there and it is noticeable when it comes to stability on this board. There's a dampness that's still lively in it which is nice because it helps dissipate any kinetic energy from the nose when you're charging. So any chatter you get is just gone by the time it hits the front foot. And realistically with those camber sections underfoot that's the most stable section

 I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a greybird day with high visibility, you had fog at times, low winds, you had chop, chunder, ice. Basically it would have been a good day if I was on the east coast and I rode it with my Roam, Black Label bindings, and my K2 Thraxis boots. The overall flex of this board comes in at just past a middle of the road all mountain free ride. So what you do get is a slightly softer nose that progressively stiffens back up to the tail with a key hinged flex point right at the dead center where that reverse camber is

I’ve been riding for 25+ years, and haven’t upgraded my board in over 10 years. 
No riding last 2 seasons with hernia surgeries and Covid. 

My “newest” and go to board is a 2010 Burton Custom v-rocker with some 2009 Burton Co2. I really like this setup but assume things are even better after the last 10+ years?

I rarely hit the park anymore, and tend to enjoy deep carves and the odd glades. I rarely get any “power” or really great conditions where I ride. (Bromont, Tremblant, St Sauver). 

I’m 6’, 180lbs. 

Budget isn’t really and issue. I’m not tied to any brand however apparently magnatraction is a game changer for my crappy east coast conditions?

Looking to upgrade my 2010 setup for “icecoast” riding

 You know, that taper directional world, but better than a lot of all mountain boards. So that's kind of where it sits. Park, I mean, you get this is what, like they said, like one board to slay it all, right? Easily could. Yeah

 They pop well off the tip and tail, where sometimes hybrid cambers with a lot of rocker don't quite have that return out of the tip and tail, but they have that stability. So you're always trading one thing for another. Far as edge hold goes, man. For days

 I'm still holding my edge from earlier. Yeah, I mean that's what this board is about. It's about edge hold. It's about powerful edge hold

I want to treat myself to a new snowboard! I own my own boots but always rented a board every year until now (told myself I'd try boards and buy a board I'd like from renting but never actually did that). I ride on the icecoast (mostly Killington, Stowe, Hunter mt). I am probably an intermediate maybe starting to push advance rider, been riding for about 7 years. Can handle majority of blacks. Usually stay out of the park, occasionally will do a jump or box. Any recommendations for the best board and bindings for me? Price is mostly a non-factor. Ideally not more than $500 for the board but I'm just interested in best recommendations. Thank you!
