Mazzer Mini

Most of the bigger name grinders have documentation online, and are generally easy to tear down and clean. Personal recommendation, along with the Sage, look for a Rancillio Rocky, Baratza Sette / Virtuoso / Preciso / Encore, Mazzer mini / super jolly, etc. Make sure you know what they look like, because many times people selling them do not know what they are selling. These are the best people to find!

It does the job fine, but not *great*. You'd be better off throwing $1-4k on the grinder rather than $6k on the machine. Even making a jump on the lower end to a Mazzer Mini/SJ or Fiorenzato F4 would see an improvement in espresso quality.

After years of pour-over I finally pulled the trigger. Everyone said invest in the grinder so I found a Mazzer Mini for a killer price. Now I just have to figure out how to pull a shot…

I also have a mazzer mini that I got used several years back. Great grinder, but the doser is a pain for home use and the retention is pretty bad.

A friend of mine just bought one paired with a Mazzer Mini as his first machine. He knows nothing about “espresso” but enjoys his coffee. The company he bought it from came to his house, setup the machine, dialled it in and then spent another hour teaching him how to use it. If you are time poor and want someone to do a lot of the thinking for you I would go do it.

Seems like the Mazzer Mini Electronic A is recommended a bit here - although it sits at 1000AUD (~775USD). Although my question is that - is the technology for this considered **old**? ~~I see the exact same machine second hand from 12 years ago being sold for 1300AUD? !~~ (edit: I think it was the larger, commercial, non-mini one) Either way, the wiki says conical burrs are better but these use flat burrs.

I have a Mazzer Mini. Really durable and reliable. I normally do 2 shots a day but can do 6 to 8 when entertaining. It’s a big grinder but not overkill.

I owned a Mazzer Mini for years and was driven crazy by retention and weight management. It was also slow beyond all reason and its burr size seemed small.

The Mazzer Mini sounds like overkill for making filter coffee in a Moccamaster. The flat burr design may also mean that the grinder is running longer for a lot of coffee when compared to a conical burr grinder.

I have been fairly happy with my Rancillio Silvia V2 and Mazzer Mini combo for a little over 3 years now. I bought these machines used on Craigslist as a way to get into home espresso without having to shell out prices for new machines.
