My washer went out this year and my research led me to a Maytag Commercial washer. It seems very robust, top load, agitator, fills with water…not many bells and whistles - knobs and lights. It gets the job done pretty good.

My suggestion, and I cannot stress this enough, buy the extended warranty from Home Depot/Lowe's/other when you buy this washer. For ~2 yrs, it worked fine, but at some point, the agitator mechanisms will fail and you will find yourself without a functioning washing machine. You'll know this day is ...

Having a steel chopper is a game changer for a dishwasher. Don't get dishwashers with a filter, it just throws all the dirt back on the plates. This is the dishwasher I have and cleans the dirtiest plate: Maytag Dishwasher with 4-Blade Stainless Steel Chopper and Powerblast Cycle in Fingerprint Resistant Stainless Steel.

I bought ours from Lowes and three years later the wash plate has stripped it's splines. I see a trend with the Whirlpool products were there is an issue they become aware of it and make a running change (adding a metal insert to the splutch pulley for example or change dishwasher try glide material...

I have a Maytag high capacity top loader that we got about 3 years ago when we bought the house we are in now, its been a great machine. What I like about it is that its made for large capacity loads and is self-balancing. It takes about 5 minutes for it to start up as it figures out the load and if its too unbalanced it will chime at me and flash that its unbalanced.

Knots clothes up constantly, the more clothes you put in the machine the worse it is.

Requires intervention if you wash more than two sets of bedsheets. Unbalances easy.

My maytag bravos washer started being out of balance a couple months ago. Since then it’s has been so violently beating my washer! It don’t spin all the water out from the load so I have to put it on drain and spin a couple times until they finally spin out.
