My friend is thinking about getting a rifle that he can hunt deer with and some day teach his kid to shoot, and he said he thought my Marlin 336 in 30-30 was cool. He's right, it is cool, but being my first deer rifle I know the lever action and steel butt plate can be a bit uncomfortable for some kids. That got me making a list of soft shooting, so probably semi-auto rifles in a deer capable caliber on a budget.

Great if you Loc-tite it. Otherwise, regardless of the torque you put in the screw, it loosens within a few pulls of the hammer. I bought this for my 1895 Guide Gun. For comparison, my 336 .30-30 shipped with a hammer extension included. I've torqued it maybe once in 10 years.

I have too many large rifle primers - the only rifles I have that use LRP is a JM Marked Marlin 336 and a Garand; had no plans to reload for the Garand, as I have plentiful food for it (yay for living near the CMP North store). (No not selling the LRPs, they're Winchester Staynless somewhere about 50-60 years old). Still cogitating over projectile balance to purchase, will likely overdo it and have too many.

I received and it was a snap to put on and good quality. I received only 1 screw and the allan part was rounded, I cold not get it tight. As there was only 1 included, I had to got find a replacement from Ace Hardware. Once I replaced the bad screw, it is flawless and tight.

My Marlin 336 was the first rifle I bought in 2016. It's light, handy and makes me feel like a cowboy when paired with my Uberti Cattleman. 10/10

The allen wrench that came with it is a flimsy piece of junk, as soon as it starts to tighten it strips out so get another allen wrench and it will tighten up alot more snug. Other than that its a decent product.
