I've been using my parent's old tools for the past 5 years since I was given their old house after they passed. All his drill bits are disorganized and rusting and the drill is corded, I'm wondering what brand to get for a cordless set.

Also do I need an impact driver and a drill? Or should I get both?

I recently got married back in June and the house needs a lot of improvement so it's mainly being used for that at the moment and will use it for maintenance and random projects in the future.

I guess I'm mainly wondering what brand is good for this.

Looking for advice on a good and affordable cordless power drill/impact driver for basic home use and occasional projects

 Before buying this, I watched some videos of DeWalt cordless grinders and they seemed to be running stronger and a lot longer than this grinder does. I'm going to try it with a new battery and see if that helps. If Yes, then I'll buy another one. If No, then I'll look elsewhere

 My recommendation is to try and find a store where you can test it first, side-by-side with a DeWalt before buying. I didn't want to have to start over on another battery system, but I don't like how this is running.

Not as powerful as I expected

  I like Makita because it is made for my hand size.  Ridgid and Milwaukee, I've noticed, are for hands larger than mine.

 Also, forget using one with an Arbortech carving tool - no compatibility whatsoever. Avoid x-lock for now, just not worth the frustration.

I hope I'm asking the right people here (and that this is ok to ask): husband's birthday is coming up, I want to get him a drill (his current one is 12 years old and the battery charge lasts about 5 minutes). Maybe with an impact driver, too. Extra battery, whatever frills and whistles are nice to have. Advice needed for gift drill

Grinder is fine. No case.

I would go Makita, best bang for the buck. Been using them for work over 2 years now. Prefer them over my coworkers dewalts and ridgids. I'm going to buy the black Makita set once I spend money on drills since I get a set from work atm

First time homeowner here - I've got most of the basics (drills, wrenches, hammers, lawn equipment, circular saw, etc.) but worked a lot of extra hours this past month and now have some money to spare. 

What should I add that will be helpful when doing projects like bathroom remodels, built in cabinets, kitchen remodel, and other similar projects? Thinking a double bevel sliding compound miter saw, orbital sander (hand sanded everything so far, ready to upgrade), maybe an oscillating multi-tool, a jigsaw? 

I usually buy Dewalt since I have a few of their batteries but open to all suggestions!
