 I had to order a replacement deadbolt and retry another day. The replacement screws did fit; however, I could not add the deadbolt to the Kwikset app. I had to take the whole thing off the door and move it to within inches of my router and even that did not work. I fortunately did not return the previous deadbolt, so tried that one, and after several attempts, finally got it to connect

 I paired this with the Kwikset SmartCode 917 and my door looks beautifully sharp. The deadbolt is very responsive to the app. I'm disappointed that the app is not compatible with SmartThings; I have Kwikset Z-wave locks that are and assumed this would be too. It does work with Google Home, though, and oddly enough, my Kwikset Z-wave locks do not show up in Google Home even though all my other SmartThings devices do

 The included screws that fasten the exterior and interior pieces did not fit. I made several trips to hardware stores in an attempt to find ones that did with no luck. I had to order a replacement deadbolt and retry another day. The replacement screws did fit; however, I could not add the deadbolt to the Kwikset app

I like it, with Some Caveats

SEVERE Battery Drainer

 This gives you four chances for the lock to work in case it can't read a particular finger. When the sun is out and the lock is hot, and if your primary fingerprint doesn't work, sometimes the backup does.  Soooo.

 The firmware update takes quite a while -- several minutes at least, so don't worry if it seems to be taking too long.  After that you add people, program fingerprints, and you're good to go--almost. When the lock works, it works. Some of my early problems were related to weak wifi, which caused unlocks to randomly fail

 I've noticed the main problem is direct sunlight, and the lock heating up. I have the dark bronze color, which gets hot to the touch, and somehow that confuses the fingerprint reader. In the shade and at night it works 100%. In full sunlight it still works most of the time, but sometimes fails to read correctly

4ghz doesn't work at all. Move the router closer or add a repeater if you have to otherwise the lock will be inexplicably unreliable. After setting up wifi, it'll likely ask you to update firmware. Do it

Fantastic Technology that's mostly there

 Connecting this lock to my Wi-Fi was a bit of a fit on my end, I didn't make sure the Wi-Fi extender was connected to my home WiFi and spent about a hour and a half trying to connect everything before realizing this. Once myself and my husband got that together and went to locking and unlocking via our phones we seen that it kept saying jammed, but the door was fully locked and even after adjusting and readjusting multiple times, even so with our old manual lock we had to pull on the door to lock and unlock; which we still do and really isn't a hassle. Once in the app you can set this lock to auto lock max time is 10 minutes, so that does give me a sense of security. You can disable the touch screen for even more security

 The lock will also alarm sound if a code is incorrectly put in 3 times, I catch my 3 year old pressing numbers and the alarm sounding so thank heaven I can disable the keypad. Now onto the problems, when traveling to areas where your carrier has low cellular data the app says the lock is offline. I couldn't see anything else in app other than the lock had jammed and it didn't give me a time that this happened. I was at least 35 miles from home when this happened but I'm now going to be paying more attention to the app and the distance before this happens as the lock didn't come back online until we got home and put the key in the lock

 From the app in access code menu you set the codes and do a scheduled time for each. The app keeps a log that you can see each time the lock is used and that name if a code is put in. The app does also take the guess work in seeing how much longer before changing the batteries. I love that I can give my in-laws a code when they want our children to spend the night at their house for just in case we forgot something moments

Modern

I always have used Kwikset and was excited to switch out the Schlage locks at our home finally and add a bit of tech. Because this runs over WiFi I did not expect this to be 100% as smooth as with a paid subscription but more than enough for our needs. I actually planned on getting multiples, too.  The issue I faced was the same as Reviewer Kenneth (uploaded photo) that on the first lock the bolts were at an angle

 But, I have no plans to purchase this or other Halo locks again now. If you were a friend asking, I'd give you a hard no and leave it up to you.

 Couldn't secure it to the door at all as a result.  I hope amazon refunds me fully. Looking at other options now.  Would I recommend? At this time with some major concerns

Faulty bolts: Take photos along the way to be safe

 I did a lot of research and against my better judgement I went the Halo Touch Finger Edition. The installation was no different than any other lock, but right away it was apparent that the corresponding application was not quite mature yet. After pairing my lock to my wifi and bluetooth and adding my fingerprints I was ready to go.

 At some point there was a firmware update published which kind of gave me hope, but unfortunately it bricked my unit. I called Kwikset to troubleshoot and they were very helpful and ultimately sent me a new unit which I am still awaiting. I have high hopes that maybe my unit was a dud all along, but we shall see. At this point I do not recommend this lock and If i could go back in time i would have gotten a less fancy lock that just had a reliable keypad

Installation was pretty straight forward, except that my door was 2 1/4" thick and the maximum the lock supports is 2". The shaft that operates the bolt was long enough, but the included screws weren't. by purchasing some longer screws (from Amazon, because neither of the big box stores carry them) I was able to install the lock.  the fingerprint reader works surprisingly well

 blocking the app notifications in phone settings solved this, but it's extremely odd and sloppy.  The auto lock timer sometimes fails dramatically. I have it set for 10 minutes, but have had it lock the bolt before I could even get the door closed after passing through. I'd expect a bugfix update on this one
