They can't be closed one handed easily : Yes, they cannot be closed with a wrist flick like a Benchmade or Spydie, but unless you are a disembodied hand you have other parts of your body to press the spine and close the knife against. 3. Most have safeties and therefore aren't any faster : I have no counter, having a safety to open defeats any speed advantage. The only exceptions I know of are the Speedsafe designs by ZT and Kershaw.

The spring in a speed safe is a hell of a lot more beefy than the spring in any axis lock style knife. Used a Kershaw speedsafe in construction without dissasembly, only sprayed oil into it once in a while. It was in piles of dirt, drywall dust, metal shavings, dropped in puddles, whatever. Worked fine for I think four years before the spring broke.

Let me preface my review by saying I own quite a few knives and I read bladeforums. I bought this knife to compare it to my American made Kershaw Leek. I find the Kershaw Clash to be a decent knife overall, and a very good buy in its price class.

My leek would be even better! I bet they don't use it because the biggest reason the budget kershaws have sppedsafe in the first places is because the knives don't drop freely or glide and require the spring to feel good.
