 That would most likely be the first thing to kill one. Change the bags, replace the HEPA filter every six months to a year, and make sure no hair collects around the brush roll and you should be good to go with this one.

 They clean carpet well and can do hard floors due to their mechanical brush shutoff. As expected by the price, the build quality is not great. I find them regularly with attachment clips that are cracked/broken and will no longer hold the attachments, bag releases that will not stay in place (they still work without the release), cracks in the base where the axles for the back wheels mount. The mechanical belt tensioner design likes to chew through belts over time, so it is the only one you listed that does not have a true lifetime belt design

 You also get a sealed HEPA filtration system. My main issue with the Intuitions is that the hoses that they put in the heads like to split somewhat easily. That would most likely be the first thing to kill one. Change the bags, replace the HEPA filter every six months to a year, and make sure no hair collects around the brush roll and you should be good to go with this one

 The major downside of the Kenmore canisters is that they use an old bag dock that relies on a foam seal instead of a rubber seal in the bag, so you have to rinse the pre-motor filter every bag change or two and perhaps eventually wipe the inside of the bag housing. It also has an exhaust filter that should be replaced every six months to a year on top of regular bag changes and keeping the brush roll clean.

Hoover Windtunnel Tempo vs Kenmore Intuition vs Kenmore 400 series

Happy with most of it. Hope it holds up. (support is lacking)

 Not as crazy expensive or as powerful as other vacuums, but it does have good suction and a powerhead with height adjustment. I enjoy the heck out of it, even if I know that if I had a bigger budget, i could have gotten better. This machine handles carpet and tile, has great filters, and i've only had to change the bag a few times over the last year. It cost me somewhere around 260$ making it a decent upgrade some the usual walmart/target options while not quite reaching a lower Miele

Best vacuum for cat owners with carpet?

 My last canister vacuum had the release button on the main handle, so while you are vacuuming and want to switch quickly to the stairs, you would just press the button with your right hand, drop off the carpet attachment, and attach the stair portion with your left, this one you have to hold the handle with your right, press the button and remove with your left and then reattach. Not a big issue, but an easy fix to make it more user friendly. Lastly, it's not the greatest on carpet because it is hard to push. Yes, this is where that weird suction option would come in, but then I got to wonder if you're getting as much dirt up if you let up on the suction

 Pros: This has excellent suction, and a lever to release some suction if you don't want as much, but no idea why/when anyone would use that. Works wonderfully on hardwood floors and the stair attachment is also easy to use and works great for not only stairs, but furniture, welcome mats and flannel bedspread to get off the lint balls. The bag is huge and doesn't need to be replaced very often, even with pet hair. Transition from hard wood to carpet is also very easy

 So gorilla tape it is. I have done some research and consumer reports says this is one the top canister vacuums on the market and with the fact that it is now over $500 I think it should last more than 4 years.

Amazing suction, not ergonomical, updated 7/22

 --Hepa filter & the bag prevents allergens & dust from being kicked up into the air as you vacuum. Our air purifier didn't come on once while I was vacuuming. So that's another plus for me as I have allergies & my cat has asthma. --Great suction with a suction control level AND multiple height levels allow you to find the perfect setting for carpet, area rugs & floors

 As it is, this vacuum will have to suffice because it cleans the plush carpet well & has an effective Hepa filter.

 When we purchased our new carpet 3 years ago, both our Dyson & Hoover stalled immediately & wouldn't budge. We bought an inexpensive (cheap) Eureka that did the job BUT it sent dust & allergens up into the air causing our Dyson air purifier to kick in at level 10 until the air had been purified again. I didn't opt for a new Hoover, Shark, or Bissell upright because of problems I read for each one but primarily because some customers complained they didn't work on their plush carpet. Well, the Kenmore does that and so I'd give it 4 stars for plush carpet cleaning

Great Motor

 Now, that joint is much stronger than it was, and it doesn't look bad. We shouldn't have to do this, but it is what it is. Otherwise, it's a pretty good vacuum cleaner.

Good for the price. But you'll want to make one modification immediately.
