What's your coffee ritual?
For the Kalita, though, I pour boiling water in a spiral with exactly 12 rotations. As I wait for that water to draw down, heating the dripper and removing unpleasant paper flavors from the filter, I return to my counter preparation, my tongue moistened by the anticipatory salivation triggered by the enticing aroma of the grounds and the slight twinge of pain from removing an eyebrow hair (with tweezers, of course--they're essential, and not a tool you want to scrimp on!).

How to use inexpensive filters with this awesome coffee device
First off, this is a great coffee maker! We were using a Melitta plastic cone after drop-kicking Keurig (best choice ever!), then my wife bought aKalita Wave 185 Drippers after seeing some favorable reviews/videos. We really love it, but I can't stand having to buy special filters, especially for $9...

My favourite pour over.
I have several top rated pour overs and this is my ‘go to’. I’d suggest pairing it with the 800ml Kalita carafe as they are a perfect pair. It’s far easier to clean compared to a Chemex It’s smaller/thinner filter consumes half as much water as a Chemex It leaves no sludge and retains heat better. M...

BOLTS CORRODE - not stainless
The bolts that hold this dripper together corroded in a few months. I bought this item because it was stainless steel, so healthier than plastic and doesn't turn coffee cold like porcelain. But now I have been drinking corroded metal. To add insult to injury, by the time the corrosion was apparent, ...

Sturdy for travel, makes great coffee
Pourovers take a while to master, but once you get your formula down, you get a reliably excellent cup of coffee even if some other variable is a little bit off. Some people complain that you can only use “their” filter. And that’s true. I don’t really care. The filters don’t really cost that much a...

Kalita Wave Review (Read This Before Purchasing)
The Kalita Wave 185 brews with 29-30 g of ground coffee and 500 ml (16.9 ounces) of water. These recommendations use a slightly higher amount of coffee than many coffee makers; as a result, the Wave (in 155 or 185 size) is known to make a bolder, fuller-bodied cup, though retaining bright flavors due to the recommended coarser grind size

Kalita Sandstone unbox and overview / Bonus Origami dripper comparison
It's fine as soon as you wet it, and as soon as you start pouring water just to wet the paper and to preheat your device, it will fix itself up. There's no uh folds that it needs to align itself with so you're good to go. You can straight away empty your water and put in your coffee

It rusted after only 5 months!
I've used this product about 5 months, and only used it probably 25 times. Each time, it is rinsed and dried before being put away. It has already begun to RUST. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the stainless steel. It's rusting on and around both rivets. If you're a coffee guru, you understa...

Kalita Wave 185 Dripper
I love pour over coffee. I’ve been using the plastic ones for years, which are ok, but this one is better. It fits perfectly on my coffee mug without fear of tipping or jostling during the pour. Very light weight, and easy clean up.
