Obviously the popular brands are the HS series and Adam Audio’s line, and I’m want to get 5inch monitors to start with. I’m gravitating towards the HS fives, but recently someone recommended the Kali Audio LP6’s. The LP6 has quite a flat response, but the HS5’s famously focus on midrange which is something I want to get better at.

I just moved to a new apartment and got a pair of Kali LP-6 to use at my office but the room is so so so echoey that I decided to put the speakers in the living room until I'm able to do a proper sound treatment, but I got so surprised by the results that I don't think I'll return the speakers to the office anymore or maybe I'll get another pair. The sound is amazing if compared with the tv speakers, and of course, the budget. I also took the opportunity to do some cable management and connect everything with ethernet cables. Overall, I'm really happy with the results.

I purchased two monitors, and one did not come with a power cord. I’d rather not return the speaker just because of the power cord, but I may have to if I cannot speak with anyone soon. Speakers: Kali LP-6 X 2 = $280. Dac: Topping MX3 $125 from APOS (which I recommend) The Topping D10S is better and cheaper, but no builtin Bluetooth. The Kali's are great speakers for the price, you might also look at the JBL 306p, but I would be nervous in a small room due to a high noise floor. In general in speakers' volume and price aren't as closely matched as sound quality.

Given the "but", you know what's coming. I'll give these monitors kudos for delivering a nice combination of features for their price. Its amazing what you can get from mass-produced product today. Probably, don't really know much about the m audio but a quick search says they are pretty much bottom of the barrel. Lp6 is about $240 and the v2 is $400 for a pair so inside your budget new

The Kali LP-6s are very capable speakers for the money. I recommend to spent most of your total budget (800AUD) on the speakers.
