K2 Broadcast Review: Men’s All-Mountain Winner – Good Wood Snowboard Test 2018-2019

 We are here at Snowbird in Utah for the 2018-2019 Transworld Snowboarding Goodwood Board Test

 The Broadcast is new to the K2 line this year, which is pretty impressive that a brand new

 board to the line already wins a Goodwood Award.

 This is a bang for your buck board, which means it's a high quality board at an affordable

 So you know you're getting a great product that won't break your bank.

 The profile of this board is traditional camber and the flex our testers found it to be about

 an 8 out of 10, so a little bit on the stiffer side.

 This board is directional with a little bit of taper going from the nose down into the

 tail, but it does also have a pretty good tail if you like riding switch.

 One of our testers was quoted saying that this was an all mountain ripper, but also

 This really is a go anywhere, do anything board.

 A lot of our testers mentioned if you could only get one board for the season, this would

 be a great board because you can take it all over the mountain, whether you're doing cliffs

 or side hits or riding powder, but then also take it in the park and have a lot of fun.

I went snowboarding for the first couple times this last season and absolutely fell in love with it, and instead of continuing to rent equipment, I figured it would be more worth it to outright buy some stuff. Im about 5’10, 260 lbs, with size 10.5 shoes. I’m just trying to get an all around good idea for what size/brand board I should get (I’ve been recommended 156/157 by an “expert”, but have the opportunity to buy a 154 from somebody.) From reading other posts I’ve understood it’s most recommended to go somewhere and get fitted for boots, but would it really be all that bad of an idea to online shop for everything else? I’ve used this app/website called “Curated” and the expert I spoke with gave me a pretty wide variety of options all across the board (pun intended), but I also want some opinions from some people that aren’t potentially getting paid based off of the products I’d be buying. Any sort of responses/additional questions are appreciated, thanks in advance!

<p>Edit: Probably important to mention that I live within an hour or so of 3-4 different resorts, all with well-groomed slopes ranging from beginner to expert.</p>

Beginner looking for help with buying equipment for the first time.

 We've got our BAP core, which is a super light, snappy core, holds up to all the abuse that you can throw at it. And then as well, we have our 4000 centered base on here. Holds wax, super durable, gonna last you a long time. So all in all, the broadcast is, yeah, one of our team favorites

22/23 K2 Broadcast

 How's it going? I'm Justin Clark. I'm the global design engineer of snowboards at K2

 Snowboarding, and today we're talking about the 2023 broadcast. So the broadcast is a

 part of our all-mountain line of snowboards. In that all-mountain line, you're gonna have

 a wide range of boards that's suited for doing pretty much everything around the entire mountain,

 whether that's, you know, freeriding, cruising groomers, getting into the park a little bit.

 These boards are designed to sort of be a quiver of one. So getting into the broadcast,

 this is a directional shape with what we call a micro amount of taper. So it's three millimeters

 of taper in the tail here. What that little bit of taper is gonna do is help with turn initiation,

 add a little bit of float, and then overall the nose is gonna be a little bit longer in the tail

 to give it that directional feel. We've got a three-quarters of an inch setback here,

 so you're a little bit set back on the board, just aiding with that overall directional feel.

 It's got our directional combination camber, which is gonna be camber from just outside of

 your insert packs, and then a good amount of rocker in the nose and slightly less rocker in

 the tail. So that camber is gonna give you a lot of control and power through your turns,

 and then the rocker in the tip and the tail are gonna make the board nice and easy to ride and

 super forgiving, as well as some added float and powder. Getting into a little bit of the features

 of the board, we've got our ICG-10 Biax glass. So that's 10 tip-to-tail carbon stringers running
