I also use injinji toe socks under a super thin regular sock on longer runs. Altras entire brand is built on giving you a huge toe box so I dont think that is the source of the problem. Try a different lacing pattern to help secure your foot from moving around too much.

They work perfectly: they're comfortable, manage moisture well, resist developing an odor, and last a long time. Lately I've also used Injinji NuWool toe socks, and they do help with the hotspots that can develop between the toes. Some synthetics may have a greater moisture wicking action for layering, and will probably dry a bit faster (though for such thin items the difference may be negligible); but the breathability, feel, and especially the odor resistance of the wool blend make it my preferred choice.

Injinji toe socks are fantastic in the wet, they seem to be better after a soaking in my opinion. They have a range of weights, I would say the mid/trail weight is the best. In wet conditions I use them with the Salomon Wildcross, which again actually seems to hug my foot better when wet.

I’ve used gurneygoo and that seems to work also just Injinji toe socks as a base and compressions over that usually prevents blisters for me plus proper fitting shoes obviously.
