For those that are in the market for a gas-powered model, we recommend the Husqvarna 450R. With a 20-inch bar and a 50 cubic centimeter 2-cycle motor, this thing truly tears through logs and branches with ease. With a properly tuned motor, the second you squeeze the trigger, the chain is spinning at full speed. The kill switch on this model needs to be held down until the motor stops and will automatically return to the "run" position once released. This means that if you ever bump it while moving or cutting, the engine will not die which could potentially cause a dangerous situation. It also means that when you go to restart the saw for your next set of cuts you don't need to reset the switch. 
This model is loud. If you're worried about upsetting your neighbors with headache-inducing noise, it may make more sense to consider an electric model. And, at 14 pounds without fluids, Husqvarna 450R is on the heavier side. It's also somewhat spendy. This saw is for someone with larger projects who knows that they'll need this much power in the future. If you have a few small trees to prune or remove in your backyard, it might make sense to go with a smaller, lighter, more budget-friendly model.  I will point out, if you're not familiar with better saws, like this one here, how it has the teeth here. My old saw has nothing like that. And when I first saw that, I was like, what in the world is that? It's like something from Mad Max or something? Well, it's actually got a really good purpose, which I'll show when I start cutting. And take two, after putting new batteries in

 I'm going to cut into it. And you'll see that with the teeth here, you can push, once I get in it, you'll push the teeth up to the wood and then you'll just pivot. And it cuts like you wouldn't believe if you've not used one. So let's do this

 I'll show you. You'll see what I've cut down here momentarily. And this isn't a detailed review on what the features of this saw are. You can look that up yourself easily enough

Husqvarna 450 Rancher Chainsaw Review

 I have a Husqvarna 140 which was always hard to start so based on the reviews on Amazon about easy starting of the 450, I purchased this unit. My evaluation: 1- the unit came in 2 pieces, which requires assembly, this was NOT stated on Amazon web site. 2- It is imperative that before you order this saw that you have verify that there is a Husqvarna service center near you because if there is not then you are stuck with a door stop or have to pay someone to assemble this unit. Also, you can’t send it back for a refund because they assume you put gas into the unit and there will be vapor in the tank

I have a Husqvarna 140 which was always hard to start so based on the reviews on Amazon about easy starting of the 450

 In order to reset the chain brake you must somehow get the cover back on, which considering the brake is on is extremely difficult. It's like a catch-22, you can't get the cover on with the brake set and you can't reset the brake unless you get the cover on. Well, I was finally able to get the cover tight enough to engage the brake reset mechanism, but it wasn't easy. I have an older Husky on which the chain brake bar and the brake are all part of one mechanism

One thing you should know about this saw. Don't ever try to adjust or change the chain while the brake is set. And like most saws you can set the brake by accident, say trying to free it from a pinch. The chain brake bar and the brake on the cover piece are SEPARATE

 Before I started reading reviews, I used to skimp and go with the lower cost Poulan type chainsaws, thinking I would be saving money. Wrong!!! Go with the quality chain saw like Husqvarna right off the bat, you wont be disappointed and over time instead of wasting it on junk and risking safety you will actually save money. Now as far as the product goes this chainsaw is great for my 5acre wood cutting needs.It is a medium sized chainsaw and is great for the homeowner but if you do a whole lot of cutting I would recommend going with a commercial use saw

 It doesn't take much to dull it. If you are out in the field there is nothing more annoying than needing to sharpen the blade and not having a spare; sharpening takes valuable time.

 I have found it goes through lubrication rather quickly. Don't leave home without it. I also recommend keeping the chain wrench handy at all times. I was a bit surprised at how quickly the chain stretched

 Make certain you give it 6-7 strong pumps, set the choke, push the compression relief, hold the handle in your left while pulling the starter with your right. It may well take 4-5 pulls before it either puffs or actually starts. Flip the choke off. Care must be taken here because pushing that choke switch too far down turns the saw off

 I am very very impressed with this saw on day one. I'll update after a week or so, Im dealing with a giant tree trunk/stump that Im cutting out. This could easily be a 5-star review if she holds up.

 Ive raised my review to 4-stars and will erase some of the original review because it had nothing to do with the product itself. This saw fired right up and cut AMAZINGLY. As far as restarting while hot, at first I couldnt restart it, but then I decided TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The real key to restarting while warm is to follow the steps in the instructions EXACTLY and also hold the trigger slightly giving it a little gas and it cranks right up

 Maybe a five year foot would fit but certainly not a boot toe. You do wear boots while cutting, right? Starting is very easy anyway. No more sore arm before making the first cut. Two things I don't like
