So what we're going to do with this video is we're going to go ahead, we're going to run through this entire build. We're going to talk about what they've done, what's good, what's not so good, how it compares to Zenith, and a couple of the other MP5 clones that I've dealt with up until this point. And we're going to go ahead and we're going to delve into it

 Pec16s, welcome to the channel, Marine Corps. Today we're going to be talking about a very anticipated firearm that was recently released by Heckler & Koch.

 So that is the SP5. If you're not aware of why it's such a big deal, the reason is because up until they released the SP5, it was very hard to get your hands on a real deal H&K manufactured MP5 variant of any type.

 So now they are making full-blown MP5 clones. Now, MP5 clones aren't anything new. Tons of companies have produced some good, some bad.

 The most famous one I think right now is perhaps Zenith. Of course you have the excellent MP5 and roller-delayed makers over at Dakota Tactical.

 And of course Omega. Lots of great companies out there, but it's really cool to be able to own kind of the real deal Heckler & Koch SP5.

 So what we're going to do with this video is we're going to go ahead, we're going to run through this entire build.

 We're going to talk about what they've done, what's good, what's not so good, how it compares to Zenith, and a couple of the other MP5 clones that I've dealt with up until this point.

 And we're going to go ahead and we're going to delve into it. Now, full disclosure time. As far as my relationship goes with H&K, the SP5 was provided to me for review, ammunition all provided for by me.

 Thank you to myself. So beyond that, there's nothing weird going on between me and H&K. No money is exchanged or anything like that.

 That is disclosure when it comes to my relationship with H&K.

 So without further ado, let's go ahead and let's get into it. We're going to do what we normally do. We're going to go tip to butt.

 I have changed a couple things on this. Most specifically, we of course now have a butt stock.

 So the SP5 as it comes from Heckler & Koch comes with just a tail cap so you can attach like a sling to it because it comes in pistol form as it is imported.

 Kind of a pain in the ass. But I went ahead and I SPR this one and added my own A3 stock because I really like the way they look and I kind of wanted kind of a classic MP5 look to this particular build.

 In any case, let's go ahead and let's get into it and talk about what makes this firearm what it is.

 So to get out of the way, this is a genuine H&K manufactured in Germany by people very familiar with roller delayed weapons. So pretty cool that we have this.

 All right, starting at the muzzle. So we have two ways to mount a suppressor. We have the half by 28 threads, which works very well, or we have the tri lug.

 I love the tri lug design for pistol caliber carbines. It's very easy to attach. You simply get it lined up, push it down and then rotate it and it is attached.

 Then you have a suppressor on your weapon. It's very easy to detach. Just go ahead and press it down, rotate and it pops right off.

 I haven't found that the tri lugs get stuck any more than other cans do. I just really love the simplicity of the design.

 So any in any case, you have two different ways to attach it. I do prefer the tri lug method mostly because it gets it kind of all the way down onto the barrel.

 And I know it's stupid, but I like the way it looks how it's snugged all the way up.

 Versus if you do a threaded mount, it kind of has that little bit of the tri lug kind of exposed. Kind of lame, but I just love the way the tri lug suppressors fit on these particular firearms.

 Barrel. So the barrels on the MP5s are really cool. So this is no different. We have a cold hammer forged Navy chrome lined barrel. Absolutely perfect.

 What you'd want out of a barrel. I have found that these particular models to be exceptionally accurate. A little bit more so than my Zenith. My Zenith is already very well made because it also went through the Zenith custom shop.

 So at the MP5, I'm typically holding around three MOA about 50 yards and I'm sure I could probably push accuracy a little bit more, but I find three to be pretty damn good on a pistol caliber carbine.

 So that's exceptional accuracy. In my mind, it can hit what I need it to hit within the effective range of the nine millimeter. Around probably 150 ish. I'd be surprised 200 possibly.

 That's getting about to the maximum range of the nine millimeter. So within its accurate within its effective range, it's quite a accurate firearm.

 So good on them there with the barrel and everything that they've done. Love everything that they have going on there.

 Alright, front sight. We of course have our sling swivel attachment. Before you guys ask, these are really cool slings. My buddy Foster Huntington, who did a lot of the filming for the last couple of videos, introduced them to me.

 They're from Echo 3.9. I like them quite a bit. I think they're made for AKs, but they work so well on the MP5. They go from two point to single point. No affiliation with them. I just think they make a cool product.

 A little shout out to them. Good company. Check them out. In any case, we have our sling swivel mount up here and then we have our front sight.

 So the front sight is pretty typical of what you see on other MP5 clones. Not really a whole lot new going on there.

 The actual front sight blade is quite thin, which is excellent to make sure that you can be a little bit more accurate versus a thicker blade, which is of course quicker to acquire, however not as precise.

 Now, going back from there, we do have kind of our first misstep with this particular firearm. So H&K adopter sights have always been a favorite of mine. I love the rear peep sight. They're just phenomenal. I love them.

 In this case, H&K has opted to go with a U-notch rear sight. And it's just, for lack of a better term, I don't like it at all.

 I think it's a real step back from the classic peep sight that you typically get on H&K style firearms. Now, the good news is that it's very easy to change it out.

 But I just wish it would have come from the factory with that kind of normal mount, that normal rear sight. It's just something I wish they would have done.

 So it's about $50 to replace it. I'm probably just going to pull it off this zenith right here since, I mean, I'm certainly not using the iron sights on this, but just kind of a bummer.

 I don't find them easy to use or intuitive to use. I am plenty accurate with them, but just change them out when you get this firearm.

 An extra $50 is going to save you a lot of heartache unless you do add some type of optic to it.

 Now, when it comes to the MP5, there's a couple different ways you can add optics. You can either add a rail that's welded onto the top, or you have some type of claw mount.

 Now, in this case, they've gone with a classic streamlined look, so in that case, you're going to have to go with some type of claw mount. Now, there are tons of great ones out there.

 I love the B&T low mounts. There are other different types of mounts that just put a rail on there. H&K parts is a really good source for that.

 But for this review, I just kind of wanted to run this mostly stock and kind of slick just for the vibes and all that type of stuff. But yeah, easy to add an optic onto there.

 A quick note for you guys is that when you add the optic, if you're using a typical MP5 stock, you're going to have some issues with height of a bore.

 So it's something to think about when you're adding it. If you have a super tall optic, you're going to get like an off-chin weld, so that could be a problem.

 That can be remedied in many ways. For example, on the Zenith build right here, I have the JMAT custom rear, which has a 1913 rail, which allows you to use SIG stocks.

 This allows me to bring that stock up almost to the top so you can use optics that are AR height. No problem.

 Of course, the problem then is that you can no longer see through the irons. There are, of course, intermediates to that where certain rails will put it low enough so you can see the irons through the optic.

 Just pick your poison and kind of go from there. The cocking handle. So the cocking handle is pretty standard, fair for the MP5, SP5 series of rifles.

 Now, what is cool, that's kind of harder to show, is how smooth it is. So this comes into that quality control and that build quality.

 Everything on the SP5 just looks phenomenal. It looks very well made, a lot of attention to detail, and a lot of quality control went into making this.
