My family had pans like them growing up, so maybe I'm a bit more familiar with it but anything sticky on it is a pain to clean off without risking the pan. If you cook something directly on the coating you NEED oil of some kind. It's only nonstick with oil

 And finally, under the little grate I always put down aluminum foil to catch any dropping grease or juices from food, never clean it when it's piping hot either. Enjoy your food and when it's cooled clean it, I use my hands and soap, or if there's a stuck bit I have a soft silicone scrubber. I've seen reviews about the nonstick coating chipping and flaking and I haven't had that but I've put in measures to prevent it: The little metal grate that it comes with must be used and you have to leave the silicone attached to this plate, they keep it in place and prevent scratching. Don't use anything that is going to gouge or scrape hard against the coating, no metal if you can help it. And finally, under the little grate I always put down aluminum foil to catch any dropping grease or juices from food, never clean it when it's piping hot either. Great Air Fryer with minor flaws!

-The size was great. The 7 quart basket size was actually pretty comparable to the cooking area of other 6 quart models, but was a lot deeper. So you could fit things like larger chickens in it, and when cooking most foods in it the depth kept the oil from splattering on the heating elements, so it never got smoky or fumy.

- Temperature controls were spot on, always hit close to the degree you set it to, produced a GREAT product, foods were cooked through and nice and crispy on the outside. There were a couple of foods we preferred to continue to deep fry, but most often we found we actually preferred the air fryer version, french fries for example.

Overall a Great Performing Air Fryer with a Couple of Cons, Not a long lasting product

 Don't let them overcook. The wings weren't as tender as my in-the-oven go-to recipe, but they took half the time and they were very crispy.  One quibble - the racks that come with this don't stack nicely. The first time I stored them inside the fryer, they came apart, and I had to use a cooking chopstick to untangle them from the electric coil on the top of the fryer

UPDATE: Dropping this appliance down to 2 stars from my original 5 star review below. I got this air fryer end of May, it's mid July and as of yesterday the non stick coating inside the basket is flaking off as you can see from the pics The basket is gently cleaned with mild dish soap and a soft nonabrasive sponge, everytime! I am so disappointed because I was loving this airfryer so much I was going to purchase a second one. Not anymore. Now I have to go through the trouble of contacting this company directly to see if I can get a replacement basket because there is no contact information here on Amazon

BUYER BEWARE

 They just need a better non-stick coating on these.  Great Air fryer. It works well and its easy to use. I use the grill function and the chicken thighs come out exactly as if they came off the grill

 After using this for a bit over a month, the non-stick coating is wearing off. It makes me very sad as it's such a small yet such an importsnt part of this unit. If the food sticks to it, then the unit becomes useless. I wish they had replacement trays to purchase
