The Giant Trance 29 3 is a sporty short travel trail bike and a solid all-around performer. This bike's liveliness and playful attitude make it one of the most fun bikes to ride in this review, and its downhill capabilities far exceed its short-travel pay grade. It feels like it has more than 115mm of rear-wheel travel thanks to Giant's excellent Maestro suspension platform that pairs very well with the 130mm Marzocchi Z2 fork. The Z2 is a departure from the typical budget fork specs, and after having it serviced it outperformed the forks found on most other bikes in this price range. The Trance 29 has a moderate modern geometry that gives it excellent versatility, and it feels highly maneuverable and comfortable at a range of speeds and terrain. It's also one of the most energetic and efficient climbing bikes of the bunch.
There was little not to like about the Trance 29 3. Testers did find, however, that it could be overwhelmed in aggressive terrain due mostly to the fact that it has less travel. You can ride just about anything on this bike, it just requires a little finesse and good line choices when the trails get rough and rowdy. Otherwise, testers were quite impressed with the playful, versatile, and affordable performance of this short travel ride.

The brakes look budget as well, and the performances as such. They aren't very powerful tool and the pads also move in the calipers under light braking causing juddering

3 at the rear, both the start to us from the off, which is great to see, but the front tire doesn't get the tackier 3c compound. So, currently have a Giant Trance 29 3, which has 130mm in the front, 115mm in the rear, both of which I'm bottoming out on my local Enduro trails.

Budget I'm aiming for is under $5k, with the biggest stipulation being there are very few bike shops near me. Local carries Trek and Revel, most other shops are 2 hours+ away, so if ordering online is an option, I'd like that. I drove about 2.5 hours to pick up the bike I have now, so I'm open to that option for the right bike

 You can describe what it is so tubeless prepared essentially means they already give you the tape, the valves and, and they give you the stands. It'S just not installed. So all you have to do. Take the valve core out squirt some stands inside wheel, pump it up and you're ready to ride

 This is full shimano dior, so you do have the shimano dior rear derailleur. You have the shimano dior cassette and then you also have the shimano dior shifter, so it is full shimano dior. You take a hit with that crank, though, and, like i have said before, if i'm going to take a hit somewhere, i would much rather it be the crank, because the number one thing you're gon na notice with that crank, is how heavy it is. But it's not gon na work, any less good

Giant Trance 29 3 (2021) First Impressions!

Here’s what I would recommend: spend closer to 2000 and grab yourself a Giant Stance 29 3. For 2400 the dang thing has a a Z2 Bomber fork, Deore 12spd, Fox DSP rear shock, a dropper, and decent shimano brakes. I was in exactly your shoes and decided to go with this bike instead of the cheaper entry-level stance. I was coming from a Salsa Timberjack where I really wished I can go a little further and harder

 Do you want to ride some bumpy stuff? Then get a full suspension bike. Want to go as fast as you possibly can and bike pack? Then get a decent hard tail. 

I've recently gotten back into mountain biking (broke some bones -- thought I was done) and resurrected my ancient hardtail (a Raleigh M80, 1998? vintage) by swapping in a 1x SLX drivetrain. Still on old Rockshox Judy (no idea what model, 100mm travel?), rim brakes, and bomber Rhyno Lite Rims. Head tube angle must be in the 70s -- and I've been sent over it many times.

But, I still have a blast riding it on my local trails (Wisconsin), often beating friends with full suspension. It's light (27 lbs?) and climbs well. Maybe I'm deluding myself, but I think I may have actually developed some technique to deal with its shortcomings. The only times I'm clearly over my head are on steep drops (over the handlebars again) or in larger rock gardens (just get bounced to oblivion). Every ride, though, ends with a big smile and only light injuries.

I continually break one of the commandments, though -- coveting they neighbor's full suspension bike. It looks faster. It *is faster* (can't stop looking at who's kickin' my a$$ on Strava). I imagine bigger jumps and drops would be on my tick list. That looks like fun. I could even try tubeless and not have to fix so many flats. Maybe it's time.

So, I think I'm going to drop $2-3k on a "entry level" full suspension bike. Something downcountry or XC-ish trail. 29". 

* Will I really have $2-3k more fun on this bike?
* Will I kill myself chasing more speed on it? 
* Will I look back with disbelief that I rode the hardtail for so long?

Please, please, talk me out of spending $2-3 grand.

I have been wanting to upgrade for a while now from my 2020 Trek Marlin 6, to a enduro or trail bike. I have had my eye on the Trek Fuel EX 5, Giant Stance 29 2, and the the Diamondback Release 1. I am new to the whole mountain bike thing so any help would be appreciated. I would like to buy a bike and slowly buy upgrades to it as well.

Need Help Selecting A New Full Suspension MTB

I was able to snag a SC Tallboy Alloy D a few months ago for my first full suspension mtb. I love it and have been riding all sorts of trails of varying difficulty and it has taken everything in stride. I have had a standing offer to go to Snowshoe from a friend and I also want to hit up Kanuga and maybe Beech this summer. My question is, am I being overzealous to think that this bike can handle downhill parks? It's got new geometry, 130mm in front and 120 in back, and obviously it's a 29er. The bike seems to be marketed as somewhere between an XC and an enduro. Just want some opinions so I don't go ruining my first bike by doing something out of its league. Any advice is appreciated!

The obvious choice is the stumpjumper. Are there any alternatives I should look at? Can anybody link a specific review for this bike? All I can find is the comp / carbon reviews.
  
I know it's their cheapest model, but it turns me off a bit that it doesn't seem to have many innovations. Travel is shorter, horst linkage still there. It seems like this is just brought out to capture the lower market?

Any advice is appreciated

Is there any considerable alternative to the 2.199€ 2021 StumpJumper?

Looking for a solid, rideable, 29er full suspension trail bike that also has a modern frame/geometry that I can get away with upgrading as things break or by feel as time goes on. Looking to get a new bike so I can ride it for a good handful of years.
