 As a lefty I either adapt well or I don’t buy it. But this is just blah. It’s also hard plastic with a belt loop. But it’s mostly made to strap to a ruck sack

 It’s an open faced sheath basically. Once the blade edge is in, it then the back edge “clicks” and locks in. Nothing to challenging but point being, it’s just not functioning. I’ve gotten around the fact that most knife sheathes are STILL made for right handers

 Those are top notch. But since it’s a Gerber and I’ve got a 30 year history of buying Gerber gear, I’d most likely stake my life on the blade itself. Here’s where the 3 star rating comes from, however. The sheath

The sheath is doo doo.

 I recommend it for size and light duty use only. If looking for something much stronger and heavier-duty, stick to Rowen or TOPS. For my purposes and observations of its general use, only three stars.

 The sheath is probably the biggest downfall and will eventually need to be replaced with some type of leather or custom kydex sheath. It is light plastic and the thumb retainer will eventually break or bend to a point it will no longer hold the knife in place. It is definitely not one of Gerber's best knives, but not bad for light use on reeds and grass. Good for maybe carrying along in a fishing pack or light duty backpacking use

Not a terrible knife for what it is

 The sheath is really well designed and feels pretty high quality. If you need a good multi functional (for the most part) camp knife/machete to take with you on long hikes or back country camping, you could do much worse than this one. As well as a little bit better.

Pretty great

With winter gloves on, the handle is a bit slippery. Definitely attach a paracord loop for safety when using it. Other than those few complaints, it works incredibly well- for the price range you won't beat it.

 yes it turned out it is made in china and depressing as it is it's not made of the high Carbon steel gerber usually uses. Very important though is to not think while looking at this item for a second this is the done deal. this is more of the reliable blade that can take a beating while still holding a decent blade at the end of the day. This I cant stress enough is not a blade you keep with you the whole time solely relying on it

trust me I like this overall. it's good, sturdy and to sum it up very solid. But, for those like me who can care about about imported goods and quality  I like most was afraid of one minor detail. it's labeled as imported which got me worried

 this is more of the reliable blade that can take a beating while still holding a decent blade at the end of the day. This I cant stress enough is not a blade you keep with you the whole time solely relying on it. I keep this and my strong arm with me when hiking. that's how I feel about this tool

 The price, the weight, the durability, the design, and the click in sheath are all awesome. I give it 5 stars because of the low price, but I wish this machete were about three inches longer and had a better handle. Larger size and a better handle, would make batoning through fat logs a lot easier. But I can split most logs 4" diameter or smaller with ease

Good Machete for the price and size

 The weight distribution is fantastic so it chops through things as well or better than things twice the size. Some reviews I read mentioned that it is difficult to sharpen, but I disagree. It is obviously different to sharpen, due to the unique blade shape, but really not hard. You will get plenty of practice too because it doesn't hold the greatest edge, but when you get a good edge on it, you can chop, baton, feather stick, etc

 So far, it’s been a great piece and has survived the abuse my junior woodsman has given it.

Extremely versatile knife.  Not a machete.  Don’t use as a machete.

It’s about what kind of camping you’re doing!!!
