 The nut that is supposed to fit into the upright's fork to hold the fan just spins in the hex hole. It's a BRILLIANT design, don't get me wrong, the hex hole holds the hex nut and you use the T bar attached to the bolt to tighten it on, loosen it to adjust then re-tighten..

 My hubby kept laughing when I put it up... THEN he got a fever and now I'm out my fan because he's so busy laying under it clipped to the head board in the spare room saying how AMAZING it is

 My husband laughed at me when I bought it, but here's the thing: I've been through early onset menopause, which means I've got about 50 years worth of hot flashes ahead of me, off and on, and night is the worst. Thing thing helps SO MUCH. The air is consistent, cool, and even. The low setting is almost TOO quiet, I prefer the high setting as it makes the PERFECT white noise

You can angle the fan head up or down by tightening a small knob when you have the fan positioned where you want the breeze to go. The front grill of the fan can be removed (for cleaning) via a screw that holds the grill in place. Yeah, I never do this, but again, it's a nice option to have and much better than other fans where the grill clips on with cheap plastic clips that usually break off within weeks

Happy With This Fan

 As to the versatility, I'd say it doesn't do much but push air, of course the choice between table top and clip-on is there. To make a long story short (too late), I recommend the Genesis Fan. Stay cool!

 Put screw in with stand installed, if you want the stand. I chose the stand and it's cooling me as I type this review. It's not very heavy. It's sitting on the paper tray of my printer, so it doesn't blow the clutter on my desk off my desk

It moves air.

 I keep it in my kitchen on the window sill to help when things are hot in the kitchen from cooking or the dishwasher putting off heat. It’s a good spot to have it in to help pull in some cool, dry air when I crack the window. I haven’t needed to use the clip that it comes with yet but I think that it’s a really good added feature. The output of the fan isn’t a lot but I wasn’t expecting it to be

The fan is pretty quiet and with open mics all over the drums, that's important. The fan works well, but is slightly less powerful than what I had hoped for. It definitely made a difference and kept me mostly dry (as opposed to drenched in sweat, which is the norm for these shows), but I'll need something that moves a bit more air for use on hot, humid outdoor gigs
