It has a Bluetooth controller, so I can change through different lighting modes. I'll usually either have it as a flashing red, or different patterns depending on how I'm feeling. I have had it on a chasing red, green, blue pattern before as police have driven past, but I've never been stopped and told that I can only use flashing red lights (I'm in Florida, so YMMV). The drivers can see me, which is my primary concern.
