Fiskars X7 Hatchet Review: Trash or Treasure? - Timber Gadgets
For survivalists, I don’t recommend the Fiskars X7. I know I’ll catch a lot of flak for this but don’t waste your money.

Camp axe
Fiskars x7. Have probably lost 1 cm length of raw edge through sheer abuse, have had that thing for 5 years and it just refuses to even look like it. I sharpen it and freshen it up once or twice a year, and it's stupid lightweight.

Fiskars X7 Hatchet Review for 2021: Hands-On - Survival Cache
Although the Fiskars X7 Hatchet is not anywhere near what I would consider an heirloom hatchet, it is a workhorse, and an inexpensive one at that. Recommended.

Don't worry about the blade chipping
Some people have complained about the blade chipping and the steel being too soft. I had a friend that raved about this hatchet, so I bought it and figured I could always send it back if it didn't live up to my expectations. I had a downed fir tree I was cutting up into fire wood and used this to cu...

The last trip I took this on was a cold camping night where we had to keep the fire going all night which means you need a lot of firewood. We had no dead wood near us hardly at t...

Duller than dirt
I have a 5 year old model that is very, very sharp, even after use, abuse and never, ever sharpening it. While this one is nice and light weight, and is easy to swing, it doesn't cut well at all. I have an old log that I use to chop kindling. I bury by hatchets in the log when I'm done. The 5yo Fisk...

JUNK Steel! Edge rolled!
Dressed the edge with some Diamond hones when I got it this morning. I was going to put it up and decided to see how it would work on a section of split Osage orange. Very small shaving off the corner. Look what happened to the edge! This steel has now hardness. Something from China I may expect thi...
