I would pick the new Ranger 96 if you want something a bit more on the versatile and playful side. The Enforcer 94 if you want something more directional that rips on firm snow.

Sounds like you're right on track with the Salomon's or Armada's. I'm sure Fischer Ranger 94's would be a great choice too

Intermediate skier looking for new experiences

Check out the new Fischer ranger series for 22-23! They have a titanal cutout, generally playful, rockered tails. Will offer you pretty solid and stable frontside performance but also allow you to explore off piste.

Ski Shop Rep told me not to buy Nordica 100s.

I have never skied the Enforcer series but I own the Fischer Ranger 102fr which is a similarly stiff ski. I have no problems at all on the 177 at 5'9" 165. Lighter skis are not necessarily less demanding, in my opinion. I'd say go for it!

Elan Ripsticks Black vs. Regular as an East Coast and West Coast Everyday Ski

I think the sweet spot for what you’re describing and for you h/w would be the 180cm Ripstick 96ww Black. While I haven’t skied them, I talked to a lot of folks who have and they all said that the slightly wider ski with additional carbon would make up for the deficiencies I found in the 88ww. It’s still super light in the Black Edition. In the realm of playful AMS skis - you may not be able to find it anymore - but I can’t say good enough things about the Fischer Ranger 94 and 102 FR.
