While I personally enjoy Fallout 76, it is infamous for being largely considered both a dreadful survival game and a terrible RPG/Fallout game. I don't know where you got 'best game in it's genre' from when it's popular for actually being one of the worst. You should look into it a bit more if you're unsure. If you're looking for a great RPG, try Fallout New Vegas, Witcher 3, Skyrim, Mass Effect etc.

Took me ~30 hours on a regular, non-completionist run. You'll get some laughs at the wacky shit out there and there is a lot of freedom for builds you can do. Fallout 76: If you liked fallout 4, you'll probably like this game. I got 30 hours out of it before I moved on.

As for the game itself - I find it pretty nice now, has crafting base building, explorations and loads of coop pve stuff that a couple of players can experience together + a lot of actual plot and missions can all be co-opted as well. Obviously fallout 76 was beyond dire and awful at release but I think the dev team do deserve some kudos for fixing many many of the problems and having a lot of good content this side of the cosmetic dlc paywall. Tldr - fallout 76 provides a surprisingly valheim-like chilled coop experience.
