I'm going to check out the 10-pound curved aluminum "folding beach hammock" (which also comes in a 14-pound XL version but may turn out to be totally unstable, judging from reviews) and if that doesn't work out, a 15-pound "Portable Hammock Camping Stand by Hang Solo" from ThunderDomes, made out of tent poles, on the site starting with E where you can get handmade stuff (the result of a looong search..

Hanging on a beach without trees?

  Bad news - ENO makes their double hammocks 9'5" while nearly all other double hammocks are 10'. The top bar on this is a bit short for a 9'5" and way too short for a 10'. The solution is a 5- or 6-inch amsteel continuous loop from Simply Light, or similar product to replace the usual 9" webbing loop on most parachute hammocks. This shortens your overall length and should give a better hang with non-ENO hammocks on this

Will work with standard 10-foot hammocks, but with shorter loops

Easy Setup

I'd prefer it to be about a foot longer so hammocks don't hang quite so low, and the color is kind of garish, but the thing works.
