 It senses when the contents have been processed enough to increase speed, which it does gradually and I've never had an issue with it exploding out the top. The lip is small holes which allow air to escape while you're blending, so that the blend is smooth and no vacuum is created. Let'S see what our second customer is saying, I am so glad I got this blender after using poor quality blenders like ninja and Magic Bullet. I did due diligence on this purchase, and picked the Hurricane Blender after reviews, and comparisons, etc. However, it's overpriced and overpowered for my simple smoothie needs. Is it possible to have too much blender?

 I have other products of theirs that I like really well, but not this blender…more specifically the blender jar. It leaks. The first time it leak and threw black goo all over the undercarriage area. They sent me a new jar because it was still in warranty but hear we are again… leaking from the blade assembly area

Cuisinart CBT-1500 This Hurricane Blender is revved and Ready to go. The Professional Power 2, 2.25 Peak Gun Metal  I purchased this blender July 11, 2017. And the only reason I would pay that much for a blender (more than it is currently listed) was because I trusted the Cuisinart name

 Since you can’t take it apart, you can’t get a new seal to fix the problem. You just have to get a whole new jar. Stay away from jars that you cannot disassemble and clean. May be a little more trouble, but at least you have a blender jar that will last

Not put-off by the noise, good blender, nice features

 I primarily bought it for smoothies. I didn't want to spend big $$ on a blender but wanted one that would do a good job with smoothies that had ice and also spinach/kale leaves. After doing some research with Good Housekeeping and Consumer Reports, I decided to purchase this particular one and I am so happy with the purchase. Yes it is very loud as some other reviews have mentioned but the smoothie preset button only runs for a few minutes and it since it does have a powerful motor I would expect it to be noisy

Smooth Smoothies, Fast, Easy to Clean

This is a highly praised machine for its ability to blend and even make "hot soup." But we're giving it a 2 stars because Cuisinart customer service is quite problematic. We think nearly $300 cost of an item should not take nearly 6 weeks to replace the jar portion of the machine. We particularly do not understand \ a reputable brand name as Cuisinart would force customer to wait for a replacement part - for a 2 months total in all
