Needless to say, I purchased another brand at a third of the price.  At least I won't feel as bad throwing out a well-kept, expensive kettle.  I am sad to say that Cuisinart is not the same as it used to be.

 It beeps like a body thermometer!  Good things: 1. No odor 2. Looks OK, but still not elegant.  The bottom line, I would not buy this kettle for that price with all the listed bad features

 I did thorough research before buying a new kettle to replace my 5-year-old amazon basic kettle. I looked for 3 main features: fast heat up, temperature control, and elegant looks. In addition, I was looking for a stainless steel kettle to avoid the plastic odor. Most kettles with temp control look very rough so I decided to purchase the Cuisinart

  Having the inner and outer walls separated (as is the case with my old Kitchen Aid kettle) would be a great improvement and significantly lower the danger of scalding when picking up the kettle.

Good size kettle with clear fill gauge.  Great to have different temperatures for different drinks and a keep warm function. Fast and efficient.

Nice but too complex for our needs

 Second, when the water is ready I really don't need 5 loud beeps to tell me so (neither do the people in the house who were still asleep before the beeps woke them). At least provide the option to turn off, or turn down, the beeps. We like the temperature options but the beeps are too much.
