I have always been a fan of the Craftsman brand. Lots of my Craftsmen tools were given to me by my father and going on 60 years old. I still use them all the time. That’s my go to brand for tools.

Craftsman tools are guaranteed for life as long as they can see the craftsman name. Those or snapon are the best two brands that I know of.

A Starter/Lifetime Tool set

Dewalt cordless tools are great, we’ve been using them since the 18v systems first came out. For starter hand tools, Craftsman (owned by B&D now) are good and so are Tekton.

They’re alright

Maybe a one-off but the middle size wrench had the thumb roller fail because of a stripped out pin. These aren’t the highest quality and you get what you pay for. At the end of a day it’s a wrench that will pretty much get beat every use but I didn’t expect a failure after 2-3 uses

As a new home owner. What’s the first few most important tools to buy?

We went with Craftsman and bought the higher capacity batteries, (which were worth every penny) also purchase a basic toolbox from somewhere like Target with your hammer, basic wrench, screwdriver and cheap level (and if you do manage to break any of those, you use it often enough to go buy a good one). A shop-vac is a must for any home IMO, also a ladder, painting supplies, and some spackle. Depending on your move-in, it is getting close to Black Friday, which usually brings good sales on power tools and shop-vacs so keep an eye out for that.
